Gird your loins for the VMA’s because Lil Nas X is performing and it’s likely to get a Lil naughty

VMA's

MTV has just announced its first round of performers for the ever-iconic VMA's this year, and let's not beat around the bush by pretending that another highly hot Lil Nas X performance isn't what the world needs right now to usher in a shred of joy. The award show is set to return this year on Sunday, September 12, and will be held at the Barclay Centre in New York City for the first time since 2013.

Firstly, yes, Lil Nas X will return to the VMA stage (hopefully in assless chaps), to bring the heat and summon the conservatives. At the 2020 VMA’s the Montero rapper performed Panini, however, this year’s song choice hasn’t been revealed, although our guess is either of his chart-toppping songs, Industry Baby or Montero. Lil Nas is also up for the highly-coveted Video of the Year award.

As for the others, Megan Fox's boyfriend, otherwise known as Machine Gun Kelly is making his VMA debut, with a world-premiere performance of his new single Papercuts, from his upcoming album Born with Horns. Kelly is nominated again for the Best Alternative musician, which he won last year, and is also up for a "Bi Wife Energy" award, courtesy of us.

Alongside the two, is Gen Z pop princess Olivia Rodrigo, who will make her VMA stage debut with a performance of songs from Sour. She’s currently nominated for five awards including, Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year, so, big year for the viral star. Joining them all will also be elusive queen Lorde, who recently reemerged after a 3 year hiatus and is now suddenly everywhere. Returning for the first time since 2017, Lorde will undoubtedly serenade us with tracks from Solar Power, her sleepy, dreamy new album.

Camilla Cabello will also appear with a performance of Don’t Go Yet, which we are still currently working out our feelings towards the news. Please respect our space during this time.

Additional performers will be revealed ahead of the VMA's premiere. In the meantime, you can start voting for your favourite artists,  here.

Stay inspired, follow us.
