Everything we know about Liane Moriarty’s forthcoming novel ‘Apples Never Fall’

There's seeing your novel in your local bookstore big, and then there's Reese Witherspoon turning your book into a HBO series. If it's the latter, chances an introduction isn't necessary. Yes, I'm talking about Liane Moriarty. Fans of the Nine Perfect Strangers and Big Little Lies author will be pleased to hear that Moriarty is releasing a new book next month. Apples Never Fall is the latest addition to the authors seemingly endless list of published titles. But, what on earth is it about, you ask? While we wait until Apples Never Fall is released on September 14, lets dive into the all the details we've been given about the new book.

As with most of Moriarty's books, Apples Never Fall is shrouded in that same air of sticky, craggy mystery and tension. We are first introduced to the Delaney family as they imagine themselves. Former tennis coaches, Joy and Stan have just sold their family business and are finally leaning into the joys of being empty nesters. Their four children are busy with their own lives, too busy it seems to have noticed the cracks in their parents marriage. Suddenly Joy disappears and the children are left reeling, unable to reconcile their own vision of their family with the all too painful reality. As the story unravels, family history, mysterious house guests and delusion are all picked apart in order to unearth Joy's whereabouts.

Book launches have been a rare thing as we grapple with the pandemic — a sore point for many new authors in publishing industry. So if you're craving an intimate setting with the person responsible for the hours spent immersed in a new tale, you're in luck. On Tuesday, September 14 at 7pm Liane will be hosting an online event accompanied by Annabel Crabb. Watch the two, live from the Opera House, as they discuss Apples Never Fall, her writing process and what it's like to inspire a TV series starring Zoe Kravitz, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep and Laura Dern — at least that's what we're hoping for!

You can purchase tickets to Liane Moriarty's virtual book event at Sydney Opera House here. Until then, we'll be deep in the drama of Nine Perfect Strangers which premiered yesterday on AmazonPrime.
