The formidable Naomi Osaka is unstoppable. A tennis great; (she is currently ranked women's world number two), the global face of luxury fashion House Louis Vuitton, and the woman infront – and behind – her own skincare line, Kinló. We've watched in awe as Osaka has seemlessly done it all. Making her mark, fighting injustices and remaining authentic despite it all. Now, Netflix is giving us truly intimate look into Osaka's life off and on the court; in a new docuseries simply titled, Naomi Osaka.

 

What is the docuseries about?

The three-part series will follow Osaka over a historic two-year period; during which she not only works tirelessly on her game, but also begins to find her voice. As her tennis career grows, the series shines a light on how Osaka's personal challenges take shape in the public sphere.

From training, to travelling and moments spent off the court with her closest family and friends. Viewers will witness Naomi’s unapologetic honesty and vulnerability as she navigates her multifaceted identity as a young athlete and leader on the rise.

According to the series' director, Garrett Bradley; "The series is about Naomi’s journey, within a snapshot of her life, but it’s also about life’s purpose, about personal worth, about the courage that it takes to allow one’s personal values to inform their work and vice versa."

He continued, "More than anything, I’d hope people can feel the power of empathy and to feel encouraged to take chances in life, perhaps especially in moments where the stakes can feel impossibly high."

 

Do we have a release date?

Thankfully, we do have a release date for the Naomi Osaka docuseries, and it's much sooner than we thought. The three-part series will be available to watch on Netflix on July 16 – which is only one week away.
