“You Can’t Stop Us” – Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka and more star in Nike’s newest film

We’re never alone, and that is our strength.

Because when we’re doubted, we’ll play as one.

The power of sport still inspires. Nike debuts You Can’t Stop Us, the third film in Nike’s campaign of the same name.

The year that is 2020 has no doubt been a challenging time for all. This is especially prevalent for athletes across the world who face challenges in new and unprecedented ways on the daily. Nike’s You Can’t Stop Us was created to prove how we are all motivated by sport and that it continues to be a source of inspiration for many - the possibilities are endless when we come together.

The film is narrated by US footballer, two-time World Cup Champion and equality activist Megan Rapinoe. The 1 and a half minute short flows through a dynamic split screen series of montages detailing 36 pairings of athletes - each relating the kinetic movement of one sport to another. The uplifting backing music is enough to motivate anyone and fill our bodies with emotion.

The split screen footage was actually developed through research of over an incredible 4,000 individual pieces of film. The resulting back-to-back montage highlights the commonalities shared by athletes the world over. The viewer now notices connections between sports that we may have never noticed before.

A collective of everyday and elite athletes have been included in the film from the likes of Megan Rapinoe, Serena Williams, LeBron James, Colin Kaepernick, Naomi Osaka, Simone Biles, Eliud Kipchoge, Cristiano RonaldoKylian Mbappé and more.

Feature athlete Naomi Osaka adds of the launch of the film, “What I love about sport is the opportunity it creates for change. Sport taught me that it’s okay to be different, that you don’t have to fit into anyone else’s box. If there’s even one little girl who picks up a tennis racket because she sees someone who looks like her step out onto the court, that’s a victory to me.”

Sport has the power to unite and inspire resilience in these challenging times we face. Watch the full You Can’t Stop Us film below and be sure to also catch part 2 of the film series, Never Too Far Down.
