25 brands like With Jéan that will instantly elevate your wardrobe

brands like With Jéan

Every so often, a new brand comes along and changes the path of 'cult fashion' as we know it. First, it was Emily Ratajkowski in Reformation; then Bella Hadid reignited our love for Chrome Hearts, and Devon Lee Carlson with Réalisation Par. But in the decade of 2023, fashion has a new influencer and her name is TikTok. So, when a certain velvet, button-down mini dress began to do the rounds on the social media app, we knew immediately that this brand was here to stay. Yes, we are of course talking about With Jéan; the label, which, just like many other social-media worthy brands, has reached cult status.

If there's one thing we've come to learn, however, getting your hands on the brand's covetable pieces is no walk in the park. Finding the now iconic Andy dress is a once in a blue moon miracle and the brand's baby tees are one of the most covetable items of the season. Thankfully, when it seems like all hope might be lost, there are a string of other covetable brands that we recommend you add to your sartorial roster.

Below, we're sharing 25 of our favourite brands like With Jéan that we're shopping right now.

1. Rouje

If we had to pick one thing that we love about Parisian brand Rouje, it's the way it has reinvented the everyday wardrobe.  Founded by French beauty and fashion muse, Jeanne Damas, Rouje has become known for offering classic pieces that will help you build your dream capsule wardrobe. The brand takes inspiration from the women around them – on the street, on Instagram, or in vintage magazines. So, just like With Jéan, this brand understands what we want from our wardrobes.

2. Marcia

Since 2019, French brand Marcia has been designing and creating its pieces from green fabric ECONYL® regenerated nylon; and made entirely local in France. Even if you haven't heard the brand name before, you would have definitely seen Marcia's trademark cut-out dresses on your Instagram feed. Like With Jéan, Marcia is not afraid to experiment with cheeky cutouts and playful prints – creating pieces that celebrate the female body in all its forms.

Réalisation Par is no stranger on the list of deeply loved fashion brands. Similarly to With Jéan, this brand grew to unparalleled popularity thanks to the powers that be – aka social media. Both brands are known for their killer dress offerings, and it's true that you'll never feel 'meh' in a Réalisation Par outfit. We'll take one of everything, thank you.

4. Faithfull The Brand

Bali-based brand Faithfull the Brand has always held a place in our hearts. It might be because one half of the creative duo is Australian Sarah-Jane Abrahams, but the brand's playful, comfortable but undeniably chic designs are what draw us back time and time again. Faithfull has always placed ethics and sustainability at the forefront of its brand – which speaks to the brand's continuously growing fan base. The brand's easy, off-duty pieces will feel right at home in your holiday or everyday wardrobe.

Los Angeles-based Reformation has had a major cult following since it first launched in 2009. But in 2015, the brand gained a whole new type of fan base when it became entirely carbon neutral. So, when you fall in love with its flattering, flirty silhouettes, you also have peace of mind knowing your purchase is not harming the environment. Spanish-based fashion brand Amlul might still be young, but from the moment it launched back in 2019, it has made a major impact. Founded by creative director, Gala González, the brand prides itself on responsibile consumption and ethical production; operating on the basis of a 'seasonless' approach to fashion. You can expect plenty of slip dresses, knit tops and even some denim moments; and just like With Jéan, Amlul is certainly not afraid of colour.

Originally founded as a swimwear label, Australian-based brand Bamba has become a regular name and face on our Instagram feeds. Inspired by 80s aesthetics and tailored for the modern woman, the brand's high-neck, open-back knit dresses have become almost impossible to get your hands on. The hype is just as real as the Andy dress that put With Jéan on the map.

11. MaisonCléo

Together with her mother Nathalie, for who the label is named after, French designer Marie Dewet founded cult Instagram label, MaisonCléo. From the outset the brand has upheld its stance against fast fashion, openly communicating with its following the manufacturing process of each item (which is created on a handmade-to-order basis) and the subsequent costs. Beloved for its front-tie blouses crafted from leftovers fabrics from French Couture Houses and factories, the clothes can be made to fit all sizes and has become a staple in the wardrobe of Francophiles the world over.

Gah! That's the feeling Lisa Bühler wants to elicit when shoppers find their way to her boutique for all things slow fashion. Lisa Says Gah arrived on the scene in 2014, as a home for brands with sustainability as their core focus and a love for all things bright, eclectic and irreverent. The store also provided an opportunity for Bühler to champion independent design, as well as launch her own sustainable label, with pieces crafted in California. If you love loud prints, ruffles and shirring, welcome home.

18. Tank Air

Bangkok-born Hong Kong-raised designer Claire Robertson-Macleod does basics with a point of view. Which, is actually a tricky thing to do in today's oversaturated fashion industry. The pieces are all about fit – and most excitingly, they're on offer to those beyond a size 12. From slinky bodysuits, ultra mini skirts and a wardrobe fit for your upcoming summer holiday, Tank Air is one to fawn over.

19. Gimaguas

Nothing says summer vacation like one of those flimsy little Gimaguas mini dresses. The Barcelona-born brand has become our go-to for flirty basics suited to the warmer weather. Every piece is made in Spain, which we appreciate. So if bearing some skin is on the agenda as we enter the holiday season, slide your mouse to this known quantity.

Mindfully made in Melbourne, Australia using minimal waste, the focus at SISTER Studios is on creating quality pieces that will last a lifetime. This is also true of its offshoot denim brand, FLOWER, which has a simple offering classic pieces made from deadstock materials. We love the flirty skirts and skimpy tops and trust us, so will you.

If you like Fanci Club but can't afford the price tag, Belle the Label offers a similar selection at an accessible buy in. We love the bubble skirts and frilly hemlines, how very Y2K.

24. Gil Rodriguez

Ethical fashion is personal fashion. And few people know this quite so well as Eliana Gil Rodriguez. The Venezuelan-born, Los Angeles-based creative director was a former designer for American Apparel, before deciding to start her namesake line of sleek basics. Aside from making elevated essentials, which are designed to be worn on repeat – everywhere from dinner to dance class – Rodriguez is a staunch believer in slow fashion. Her pieces make it easy to be too.

25. MODE MISCHIEF

The offering at Melbourne-based label Mode Mischief Studios is not large, although we don't think it needs to be. The label designs a straight-to-the-point selection of basics that are flattering and nod to the trends within the zeitgeist. Each piece is ethically manufactured by a small, family-run business, which is a bonus in our eyes.

If our brands like With Jéan roundup has you itching for a spot of online shopping, we're certain you'll find some pieces to "add to cart" after scrolling through our list of brands like Reformation.

Stay inspired, follow us.
