Your first look at the Heartbreak High season 2 trailer

What will season 2 of Heartbreak High be about?

Anyone that polished off the series will know that Heartbreak High left us with a handful of cliffhangers and loose ends. And before you yell about spoilers, you had your chance. The series spent three weeks in the global top 10 shows on Netflix, and held onto that ranking in Australia for five weeks. Teenagers in Timbuktu have seen it at this point. So if you haven't, you need to sit down and have a hard conversation with yourself. Anyway, I digress.

The show ended by disclosing the true nature of Harper's home life, with her dad's addiction troubles, and the details of that harrowing night after the festival. Police track down Ca$h, but not before he professes his love for Darren. We find out why Spider is so salty towards Amerie and Quinni stands up for herself. Amerie reunites with Harper and the two set the chief lad's car on fire. Meanwhile Malakai begins his own healing process. As for Dusty? That man remains just as hot and emotionally challenged as ever. Oh, and Jojo comes back!

Although few details about plot for season 2 have been released, we can imagine the next chapter of Heartbreak High will use these cliffhangers as a launching pad. Will 'Sluts' continue? Who knows. Will Ca$h return? We sure hope so. To be completely honest though, as long as the outfits keep us gagged, we would sit and watch them launch pink dildos at basketball hoops for a whole season.

Who is in the cast for season 2?

After the series aired, one of the most common compliments was about its casting. We were obsessed with the dynamic between James Majoos and Will McDonald, Chloe Hayden delivered one of the most authentic representations of autism we've seen on screen, and Thomas Weatherall is pure sunshine.

With this in mind, we've got our fingers crossed that these folks along with the rest of the wonderful cast, including Ayesha Madon, Asher Yasbincek, Josh Heuston, Gemma Chua-Tran, the inimitable Rachel House, Chika Ikogwe, Sherry-Lee Watson, Bryn Chapman-Parish and Brodie Townsend appear in season 2.

Netflix has also inducted two new students for season 2 of Heartbreak High. Sam Rechner (who you might recall from his breakout role in Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans) is set to join the class as Rowan Callaghan, described as "An unassuming country boy with a dry wit and a passion for classic cinema who finds himself thrown headfirst into the chaos of Hartley High and a truly epic love triangle".

Kartanya Maynard (Deadloch) is also confirmed to join the cast as Zoe Clarke, slated to be "an opinionated celibacy advocate who, along with her gang of Puriteens, threatens to bring down the SLT class from within."

Season 2 dropped onto Netflix on April 11

Netflix announced in March 2024 that the second season of Heartbreak High will be available to stream globally via Netflix from 11 April 2024.
