BLACKPINK’s Rosé tugs on our 2010 heartstrings – recording a live cover of Paramore’s ‘The Only Exception’

The Only Exception Rosé

It's 2010. You're sitting in the window seat of the school bus – watching the world go by. Today was tough; you saw your crush (who barely knows you exist and is two years older than you), hanging out with another girl during lunch break. The appropriate cure for a broken 15-year-old heart? Headphones in with your iPod classic set to full blast as Paramore's hit-track The Only Exception plays on repeat.

It's been years since those trying moments, but nonetheless, the universe never likes to let us forget. As if being reminded of the OG version wasn't difficult enough, one of our favourite K-Pop stars, BLACKPINK's Rosé is reminding us of the heartbreak all over again with a live cover of The Only Exception. And naturally, it's brilliant.

On the Tuesday that just passed, the Korean-Australian singer made a major guest appearance on the South-Korean variety show Sea of Hope. In a shift from the extravagant productions and group performances we're used to seeing her in; Rosé performed a completely stripped back version of The Only Exception.

Sitting cross-legged on the floor in a simple t-shirt and jeans; the musician took us back to our teenage years with only the help of a pianist and acoustic guitar player. Not that it comes as any surprise, but the three minute long performance has already garnered over one million views in two days.

Watch Rosé perform The Only Exception below.

Our girl Rosé has been a busy bee as of late. Just last week, she was spotted with band member Jennie in Los Angeles; where the pair were reportedly making new music. The star also recently released her debut solo album in March this year; breaking a record with her debut single On The Ground for the most views in 24 hours
