Chloë Sevigny and Natasha Lyonne’s mystery drama series ‘Poker Face’ now has a release date

poker face series

We have been blessed on this fine Wednesday morning. The Great Woman in the Sky has taken pity on us mere mortals, casting New York City's coolest girls (who just so happen to be best friends) together in a new mystery drama series. If you haven't cottoned on, we're talking about Chloë Sevigny and Natasha Lyonne who have both signed on to star in the Poker Face series, the latest project from Rian Johnson.

If that name sounds familiar it's because it should be. Johnson is the Oscar-nominated writer and director behind star-studded whodunit Knives Out. Now, on top of bringing us a sequel to the film, one that has many Hollywood heavyweights attached to it; namely, Janelle Monáe, Kate Hudson, Madelyn Cline and Daniel Craig, the director is working on a project he likens to the "character-driven, case-of-the-week mystery goodness" he "grew up watching". Telling Deadline that it's his "happy place". So what can we expect from his passion project Poker Face? We're bringing you all the details so far, below.

Who will star in Poker Face?

Natasha Lyonne was always going to star in the series, after all she was the original name attached to it when it was announced. She will also serve as an executive producer for Poker Face, so there's that too. As mentioned above, we also know that Chloë Sevigny has signed onto the series. Although at this stage it's unclear as to what role both will be playing.

As for the rest of the cast? Indie heartthrob Joseph Gordon-Levitt is involved, as is the immense talent that is Adrien Brody. Stephanie Hsu from Everything Everywhere All At Once has taken on a role, alongside Benjamin Bratt, David Castañeda, Dascha Polanco, and Lil Rel Howery. We're sensing that Johnson is a person that attracts star power.

What is Poker Face about?

Like all projects Rian Johnson helms, it's very likely that we won't know much about the plot until the eleventh hour. For now though we can confirm that the series will comprise of 'a ten-part mystery series.' That's about it though. There has been a teaser trailer released which you can watch here.

When will Poker Face premiere?

The Poker Face series will launch on Peacock on January 26th 2023, and Sevigny has given us a first look!
