Petra Collins is directing a new psychological thriller, ‘Spiral’, and somehow, Drake is involved

Petra Collins Spiral

Is there anything Canadian artist, model and photographer, Petra Collins, can't do? Over the last decade, we've seen her continuously work her magic; from capturing some of the world's biggest names for famed covers to her latest book release of erotic fairytales with Euphoria's Alexa Demie. Unafraid to push boundaries and always one step ahead creatively, her latest project is one we should have expected. Collins is once again taking on the role of director; this time for her upcoming film, Spiral.

The film, which has been described as a psychological 'social media thriller' (obsessed with this genre, by the way), will follow the story of a former influencer whose addiction to social media is "causing her body to literally fall apart." If you ask me, this already seems like the perfect warning tale you preach to young kids who abuse screen time... Taking on the leading role is none other than artist Selena Gomez.

Although it has certainly been a while since we've seen the artist in a feature film, Spiral isn't actually her first time working with Petra Collins. The duo have joined forces before; Collins having directed Gomez's music videos Fetish and Bad Liar, as well as appearing in Collins' 2018 horror film, A Love Story.

Naturally, this is not where the A-list love story ends. Collins has managed to get Twitter personality and author of the personal essay collection So Sad Today, Melissa Broder on board who drafted the film's first script. If that wasn't enough, Euphoria and Assassination Nation producer Phoebe Fisher then took a stab at editing. The pièce de resistance, however, comes in the form of a very unlikely executive producer; none other than rap lord, Drake.

Look at Petra Collins, a true hustler, giving us the Spiral creative team we all deserve.
