Is Pedro Pascal about to become our newest scream king?

pedro pascal weapons

If there's one thing we're certain of, it's that Pedro Pascal has range. Few people can slip between Dornish prince, deadened smuggler, futuristic bounty hunter and slutty daddy with the agility he has displayed. Which is why we're kind've impressed that he has time to add another personality into the mix, with his new role in horror film Weapons. Everything about his involvement in the forthcoming movie, below.

What is Weapons about?

The exact plot details are being kept under lock and key, but according to The Hollywood Reporter the "interrelated, multistory horror epic" will feel tonally similar to Magnolia, Paul Thomas Anderson's 1999 pyschological thriller crammed with names like Philip Seymour-Hoffman, Julianne Moore, John C. Reilly, Tom Cruise, William H. Macy among others.

Who else is involved?

If the 2022 horror movie Barbarian means anything to you, you'll know we're in for a good – well maybe not good, but entertainingly scary time. After a feverish auction in February that saw New Line in a bidding war with Universal, Zach Cregger has landed the job of director while Jordan Peele has lost out on producing the film. Pedro Pascal is the only actor tied to Weapons at this stage, however we'll be updating this as more names are announced.

Is there a release date?

Given that Weapons is only in the early stages of production, there's no word yet on a release date. But we do know shooting will begin this spring. However, if you're looking for your Pedro Pascal hit, Strange Way of Life, Pedro Almodóvar's answer to Brokeback Mountain, in which he stars alongside Ethan Hawke will soon hit theatres. Then there's the Ethan Coen-directed lesbian road film in which Pascal is involved, careening our way in September. Pascal is also just about to roll into production for a Gladiator sequel directed by Ridley Scott, so there's plenty of action coming our way.

How about a trailer?

No dice, I'm afraid.
