Milan fashion week has come and gone in the blink of an eye, and as we catch our breath after witnessing arguably the most loud fashion week in the entire circuit, we're looking back at the best moments from the days past. Undeniably, the atmosphere at Milan Fashion week this season was eerie, when it commenced just one day prior to Russia's attack on Ukraine. As a war began to rapidly emerge just an hour's flight away from Italy's fashion capital, and designers continued to send vibrant looks down the runway, the world, including ourselves, looked on at the polarizing nature of what was unfolding before us. It wasn't until Giorgio Armani's silent show that the atrocities Ukraine is facing were openly acknowledged. This, was undoubtedly the most poignant moment of the week.
Elsewhere, moments of joy were offered up by the likes of Gucci, where the brand collaborated with Adidas on a phantasmagoric collection, clad full of logomania and tuxedo's. At Diesel and Versace, who both showed against rich hues of red backdrops, brought Italian glamour and drama, while elegance was offered by Mattheiu Blazy, who wiped the slate clean with his debut collection for Bottega Veneta, alongside Jil Sander, and Prada (where the ribbed singlets will be worn by every influencer come next spring.) Marni served some handmade realness, while Missoni gave a lesson in layering only the most beautiful cashmere shawls with knitted bikinis. At Blumarine, we saw what might happen if Helmut Newton's muses attended Euphoria High, and for Kim Jones' Fendi Fall 2022 collection, Karl Lagerfeld's spirit was evoked has he dove headfirst into the archives, referencing Lagerfeld's legacy and the Fendi women he is around every day.
