When we think about the fashion industry at large, the term 'sustainable' isn't necessarily front of mind. As we as a collective encourage positive, climate forward change within our industry, it's important to note the steps that are being taken to push these ideas forward. Thankfully, Danish fashion brand GANNI is doing just that with the launch of GANNI Software - a low impact collection of off-duty pieces, marking the brand's first launch of leisurewear which champions styles that are entirely made of recycled materials.

 

 

GANNI has reportedly set out to create responsible and traceable styles that are comprised of certified recycled materials, with a functional mindset at the forefront. Offering a collection of 11 styles in the first capsule, the collection offers a myriad of track pants, sweatshirts and t-shirts which are made using a certified recycled yarn by EcoLife. EcoLife is reportedly "made from 50% Post-consumer Recycled Polyester, such as PET plastic bottles, and 50% pre-consumer recycled cotton from end-of-line manufacturing scraps that would otherwise go to waste". All styles are available in multiple staple colourways: black, grey and off-white.

 

 

The GANNI Software collection leans on a play on words alluding to new technology and the production of comfortable styles as a result, "I'm so excited to launch GANNI Software. We wanted to create something off-duty that felt fun and effortless, but above all responsible. We ended up with a soft and super responsible line. It's been a real learning curve, with lots of challenges along the way, but we're super proud to have worked with fabrics made of recycled materials - a mix of pre and post consumer cotton and polyester. We're also really proud to have reached 75% traceability in stages 1-3 of the supply chain across the collection - but our goal is to reach 100% traceability in the future" Says GANNI Creative Director, Ditte Reffstrup.

 

 

With a spring chill still lurking and many of us working from home, GANNI Software feels like an elevated addition to our quarantine wardrobes with an added clear conscience.
