Giorgio Armani designed the Emporio Armani Spring Summer 23 collection to feel eclectic. It was meant to seem as though a woman had picked out pieces of clothing as memorabilia along her travels, throwing them together with the pieces she already holds dear in her collection of possessions. For Menswear, it was an ode to summer in the city, an urban approach to silhouettes not dissimilar to the Women's collection: fluid, light, and inspired by travel. This was the sentiment that the brand wanted to communicate when conceiving Spring Summer 23.

For Emporio Armani, both Men's and Womenswear collections capture the spirit of the brand and the way it relates to the idea of a summer holiday. Styling is integral to this, and forms the way we perceive the feeling of a collection, which is why Emporio Armani have tapped sister duo, leading Sydney stylist Jess Pecoraro and model Roberta Pecoraro to show you how to style the collection for long summer days and nights.

The Emporio Armani Spring Summer 23 collection

For their Womenswear offering, the feeling of summer is reflected in the silhouette embodied throughout the collection, a feeling of openness in fluid silk and cotton pants, soft jackets, pea coats, and dusters. There are weightless button down tunic shirts and pastel wrap skirts followed by translucent chiffon culottes. This feeling of fluidity, from a shape perspective and one of androgyny, is similarly reflected in the palette, all whites and pastels and watery grey-blues. The final stream of looks offered, was a collection of iridescent silvery pants that moved like liquid, paired with an offering of different beaded party tops – the kind of outfit you'd wear to dinner at the hotel on vacation or out for a night of dancing under the stars.

For the brand's Spring Summer 23 menswear offering, the sentiment remained with a slightly more metropolitan approach. For Mr. Armani, the Emporio brand acts as a container of possibility, like a basket, so for Spring Summer 23, the basket motif was reflected in the show backdrop. Jackets and tunics take on a more uniform approach as they are swapped out for the traveller's eclecticism of the Women's offering. They are still fluid, though, with cotton cut away from the body, the additions of vertical openings and slits revealing peeks of skin. Pleated trousers are given room in the leg, while some of them feature slits at the knees and shorts are cut extra short to continue the theme of body exposure. Cotton poplin ensembles emerge as the collection moves further from the office and closer towards a vacation – a true exploration of summer in the city.
