Everyone, it's that time of year again. The 2022 Emmy nominations are out and we're feeling a little like Sydney Sweeney right now.
It's said every year, probably, but we really did get to chow down on some great television over the past 12 months. There was the grotesque portrait of whiteness and wealth with The White Lotus, the chaotic second season of Euphoria that had us rolling up to our therapist's office in pieces, the grand finale to Issa Rae's Insecure, an action-packed season of Stranger Things, the masterpiece of Succession and even Maid.
The good news is, it's not just us that feels this way. The good folk behind NATAS, the body responsible for pulling together the list of nominees, has awarded all of the above television shows with a nomination. In fact, Succession picked up 25 nominations, with The White Lotus shortly behind sitting on a total of 20.
As is the case with awards, some television shows were omitted completely, and murmurs of snubs trailed after the Emmy nominations announcement. For example, Pamela Adlon's Better Things was nowhere to be seen. As was the case with Atlanta and Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi's joint project, Reservation Dogs. Selena Gomez was also overlooked for the category of Best Actress in a Comedy Series for her role in Only Murders in the Building, while both her colleagues Martin Short and Steve Martin were nominated.
