There's nothing scarier than the disposable income celebrities exert to go hard on Halloween... give it to us instead! With that said, it is always fun to weigh in on what costumes celebrities choose to wear for Halloween. The good, the bad, and the truly terrifying.

In 2023, the best costumes have drifted away from classic pop culture references, although Kendall Jenner turned up to her own party as Marilyn and Austin Butler is doing his best Warhol impression – is there a biopic in the works we don't know about? Scary movie references, save for the odd Beetlejuice homage, are few and far between. Instead people are embracing internet culture, with niche memes, tributes to specific celebrity eras, and viral online moments. Take, for example, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker's joint reference to that pap shot of Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande sucking lollipops; or Evan Mock as the Zombie Kid who famously "likes turtles". Brilliant.

With the festivities only kicking off in the northern hemisphere, we're certain there are a ton more costumes to surface. For context, Heidi Klum's yearly bash is yet to kick off.
