We usher in the new world of Demna Gvasalia’s Balenciaga Spring Summer 2022 complete with a fake red carpet and The Simpsons

If like everyone else, you've found yourself online in the past 48 hours - then you too, may have caught on. Yes, it's true - Balenciaga Spring Summer 2022 seems to have taken the crown as the show of the season.

And honestly, how could it not? It was an absolutely wild affair. Quite possibly one of the most cleverly staged runway shows of the century (some could say a stroke of rare genius?), Balenciaga Spring Summer 2022 presentation came complete with its own celebrities, all staged at its own fake red carpet premiere. But the most genius heist of all? To everyone's surprise, the staged red carpet was for something real after all - and it was to none other than Balenciaga's very own The Simpsons premiere.

Creative Director Demna Gvasalia had one thing as priority on his mind this season. Following on from all the grief and the world's post-pandemic jargon; humour was of upmost importance, which played to the main highlight of Balenciaga's Spring Summer 2022 show.

The collection in itself was also a success. The red carpet and its runway starring some renown names drenched in Balenciaga's all-black looks, some modelled by the likes of fashion photographer Juergen Teller, singer songwriter Dev Hynes, actor Elliot Page and model Ella Emhoff to name a few.

And in true Balenciaga fashion, it was a mash up of both the distressed and futuristic cyber games. We welcomed Balenciaga's signature oversized and ill proportioned outerwear, sequinned dresses, skin tight bodysuits, deconstructed denims - however thing time, finishing off with a finale in a completely blacked out face veil.

It seems for Spring Summer 2022, Creative Director Demna Gvasalia has seamlessly transitioned the House's previous engagements in the digital world with those that jovially toy with the world of entertainment. The show itself was staged at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, with the full collection available to explore on balenciaga.com.
