Meet Angus Cloud, the undercover and undeniably wholesome heart throb of ‘Euphoria’

Beware: Euphoria spoilers ahead.

Okay, we admit that wholesome is probably a stretch. We did see the guy beat Nate to a pulp in the first episode, which some could argue is not entirely undeserved. But for Euphoria high school, where everyone is guzzling drugs and getting entangled in some truly dark plotlines, Angus Cloud, or Fezco (before I make the common error of getting the two twisted) has us feeling as safe and warm as a hot water bottle.

He may have been overshadowed in the first season by characters like Rue, Jules and Nate, but as he receives more airtime and as Rue's sobriety is shadowed by a glaring question mark, we find ourselves slipping further into the camp of Fezco devotees as the second season of Euphoria unwinds.

But what is behind this soft spot? Is it the seeds of love burgeoning between him and the bookish Lexi? His street-smarts and surprising moral compass? The loyalty and protection he extends to those he loves? Or is it just that we love a man who says little and loves his grandmother? Either way, we know that we've fallen for this Cancerian/Capricorn (it's an unresolved debate among the RUSSH team) which has naturally developed into a throbbing crush for Angus Cloud.

That's why below we're unpacking everything we know about the enigmatic and deeply charismatic actor, Angus Cloud.

Angus and Zendaya go way back

Well, sort of. The two went to the same charter school in Oakland before Zendaya eventually left to pursue a career at the Disney Channel. There's a two year age gap between Zendaya and Angus so it's very possible that they could have bumped shoulders at some point. As Oakland School for the Arts is a pretty serious performing arts institution, Cloud got his first taste of acting there, although granted his focus was on technical theatre, which involved set building and lighting.

He ended up on Euphoria by accident

It's a well-trodden trope: an ordinary person is spotted in a crowd by a powerful figure and lands their big break. But as it turns out, it's more common than you think. Angus Cloud was living in Bushwick at the time and happened to be walking down a random street in Manhattan minding his own business when a pushy casting agent stopped him and asked him to audition for a TV series.

Like any normal person, he was immediately sceptical of the woman, convinced that it was a scam. So it wasn't until he was reading lines in a random room surrounded by important-seeming people that he considered she was telling the truth. From that point on he found himself whisked away from his job at a chicken and waffle joint, on a first class flight to LA. The rest is history.

Fezco was originally supposed to die in season one of Euphoria

Admittedly, things got pretty hairy in the final episode of Euphoria season one. Fezco was in a tight spot with his drug distributor, the guy who gave Rue fentanyl, and true to form Sam Levinson left us hanging. Luckily, Fezco didn't bite the dust thanks to his fiery little brother Ashtray. But if you had the sense that Fezco was not long for the Euphoria-verse it's because at one point he wasn't.

In an interview with GQ, Angus Cloud divulged that he was originally meant to be killed in season one. However, it was never clear to him how it would happen as he didn't get a chance to view the script.

"I don't know, but apparently, because they cast me off the street, I guess the character of Fezco was [never meant to stick around]," he said.

"I don't even know how. I never saw that script. No one ever told me. It was one day when we were filming the pilot that I think Jacob [Elordi] told me, he was like, "Oh yeah, you didn't know? Your character gets [imitates brains getting blown out].""

If you're wondering why it didn't end up happening, Cloud puts it to the fact that he thinks "that they liked what I did and so they decided to keep me alive and let me rock. I don't know how I was going out, but hopefully I would've gone out like a G".

He's really into rap

One of life's greatest pleasures is stumbling across celebrities YouTube accounts, especially if like Timothée Chalamet it involves footage pre-fame. And while Angus Cloud's account it considerably less dorky than Chalamet's, what it does reveal about the actor is that he is a fiend for rap. Specifically rap music from the Bay like J. Stalin and Lil' BloodNot, as he revealed in his interview with GQ. Not only that, but he edits and directs the videos on his channel which are often of his friends rapping. It's partly this reason that so many people draw links between Cloud and the late rapper Mac Miller.
