‘Finalmente L’alba’ is the upcoming indie Willem Dafoe film we didn’t know we needed

Our favourite Prada-loving, Frame Denim-wearing, silver fox Willem Dafoe is set to star in independent drama Finalmente L’alba (Finally Dawn), directed by Saverio Costanzo. Sharing the screen with Dafoe is actor Lily James, with its production slated to start in Italy later this month.

What is the plot of Finalmente L’alba?

The plot? Yes, that would be critical information to have but alas plot details are currently unknown, leaving us to hypothesise purely based on the name. Finalmente L'alba is giving us drama, undulating, maybe a glowing sunrise over the Bay of Naples or a Tuscan vineyard. Come what may, with Dafoe featuring and the backdrop being the beauty of Italy, we’re fairly confident Finalmente L'alba will be one to catch when in cinemas. What we do know for certain is Rachel Sennott and Rebecca Antonac are also featuring in the film, who you would know from Bodies Bodies Bodies.

Dafoe has recently wrapped shooting on the upcoming Wes Anderson film, Asteroid City, another feature with its plot still heavily guarded and little information available. The actor also portrays a scattered, chaotic writer in the film adaptation of Cheryl Della Pietra’s novel, Gonzo Girl, directed by Patricia Arquette.

James had a roaring start to 2022, starring as Pamela Anderson in Hulu series Pam & Tommy, with the show receiving 10 Emmy Nominations including one for the actor herself. Of course, we’d also know James from her roles in The Dig and as young Donna in Mama Mia! Here We Go Again!

When is Finalmente L’alba releasing in Australian cinemas?
