GANNI has teamed up with New Balance for a very Scandi sneaker

Two of fashion's most beloved forces have collided in a heaven sent collaboration. So if you had planned on maintaining a budget this week, I suggest that you don't read any further. Danish label GANNI has teamed up with New Balance for a riff on the sportswear brand's popular 2002R sneaker.

Both designers are no strangers to hyped up collaborations. In February New Balance partnered up with Aimé Leon Dore following a sold out release with Miu Miu. Meanwhile GANNI put its head together with London-based label Ahluwalia and digital marketplace Depop for its own share of equally coveted clothing capsules. But we have to admit, none are so aligned in values as GANNI x New Balance.

What we mean is that New Balance has garnered street cred for its normcore functionality, and who is more invested in function than the bicycle-riding it girls of Copenhagen? It's safe to say the sneaker collaboration is a hit.

Drawing on our favourite Scandinavian style cues, the 2002R silhouette will be reimagined in two distinct colourways. The more subdued of the two sees that specific shade of turquoise, you know the one—the streets are awash with it come Copenhagen Fashion Week—paired with grey and cream for a dynamic option fit for any wardrobe. The second is much the same, save for rainbow accents on the heel tabs and "N" logo. Both are peppered with the GANNI branding across the fabric upper.

Of course, is it ever truly a GANNI collection without a focus on sustainability? Both styles will be crafted from more than 50% recycled materials in adherence to New Balance's Green Leaf Standard and the shoe will feature a 5% regrind rubber outsole.

Now for the more pressing question of where to buy the GANNI x New Balance collection? Set your alarms for Wednesday April 13, where you can shop both styles on the GANNI and New Balance online stores.
