The Queen’s Gambit actor Anya Taylor-Joy will star in new Apple Original Films feature The Gorge, appearing alongside Miles Teller in the film. The Gorge is directed by Zach Dean, and comes as product of the Apple Original Films and Skydance partnership.

Do we know the plot of The Gorge film?

Plot details are currently under wraps, however it has been described by producers as a “high-action, genre-bending love story,” and originally gained momentum earlier this year when Teller was considering his next project after the success of Top Gun: Maverick at the mid-year Box Office. It is also the second collaboration between Skydance and Teller, the first being the action film. Taylor-Joy has, of course, had a very busy 2022, featuring in Edgar Wright’s Last Night in Soho, The Northman by Robert Eggers, Amsterdam alongside Margot Robbie and Christian Bale and the upcoming Mad Max: Fury Road prequel, Furiosa. We’ve also seen her embrace retro and vintage-inspired garments on the red carpet, commencing with her sheer Dior gown at the Vanity Fair afterparty for the 2022 Academy Awards.

The Gorge joins several future films currently streaming on Apple TV+, including The Greatest Beer Run Ever, starring Zac Efron, and Ghosted, a romantic comedy, action adventure film featuring Chris Evans and Ana de Armas. From the Skydance team, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Don Granger will produce, alongside Crooked Highway’s Scott Derrickson and Sherryl Clark. Zach Dean, Adam Kolbrenner and Greg Goodman are also signed to produce the film.

The partnership between Apple and Skydance was heralded as one of the best seen in Hollywood, with the company agreeing to produce at least two fully-financed films with budgets up to $125 million.

Is there a release date for the film?

Along with the plot details and further casting announcements, a release date is still to be announced for The Gorge film, likely in the coming months as filming continues on set.
