‘The Bear’ season 3 hasn’t even dropped and there’s already talk about season 4

The Bear season 4

It doesn't matter that we don't know if Carmy makes it out of the walk-in fridge. It doesn't matter if we're still wondering whether Marcus buries his mother or Claire takes Carmy back. Wherever season 3 of The Bear leads us when it drops in June this year, we can rest easy because the hit FX series will return for season 4, according to Deadline.

It turns out the showrunner Christopher Storer is working five steps and one season ahead. After the success of The Bear at the Emmys and Golden Globes, where it swept up awards for best comedy, actor and actress, Deadline has confirmed filming for a fourth season will begin immediately off the back of wrapping the shoot for season 3.

The publication speculates this is to accommodate the show's leads Ayo Edebiri and Jeremy Allen White due to the sheer influx of roles the pair are receiving. On top of The Bear, Edebiri has recently starred in queer fight club comedy Bottoms as well as soon-to-be-released film The Sweet EastAllen White on the other hand has enjoyed acclaim for his recent role in The Iron Clawand starred alongside Jessie Buckley in sci-fi romance Fingernails.

Could there be another reason entirely that explains the back-to-back filming schedule of season 4?

Deadline suggests there could be, sharing the theory that season 4 could end up being the final chapter of The Bear, as was the case with fellow FX comedy Atlanta which concluded after its last two seasons were shot consecutively.

This is, of course, all speculation at this stage. Safe to say, the rumour mill is certainly spinning. For now though, we're just interested in laying our eyes of season 3. Do we think Sydney and Marcus get together? Or is Sydney gay? Lots of questions to consider ahead of June 2024.
