Feel like murdering a dancefloor? Sophie Ellis-Bextor is headlining this Sydney Mardi Gras party

How to buy tickets to Sophie Ellis-Bextor at 2024 Sydney Mardi Gras.

In news that is certain to delight the girls, the gays, and the theys this Valentine's Day, Sophie Ellis-Bextor is due to headline the 2024 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras' Bondi Beach Party on Saturday, 24 February.

The British musician will play to an audience of 15,000 people, in what will be the first of two trips to Australia in 2024 (Ellis-Bextor will return in October and November as a support act for Take That during their Australian tour).

The news comes off the back of renewed interest in Ellis-Bextor's discography after Murder on the Dancefloor soundtracked the closing scene in Emerald Fennell's SaltburnAlthough for Mardi Gras, we prefer her vocals on Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) by Spiller.

It may have taken Barry Keoghan stripping down and flinging his bits around for the rest of the world to give Sophie Ellis-Bextor the credit she deserves. However, the queer community have been singing her praises for years. Want proof? The last time Sophie Ellis-Bextor touched down in Australia, she headlined the inaugural (and very gay) Summer Camp Festival. Safe to say, her appearance during Mardi Gras is a match made in heaven.

Joining Ellis-Bextor on the lineup for the Bondi Beach Party is previously announced acts such as Slayyyter, Jay Jay Revlon, Lagoon Femshaymer, Corey Craig, Tyoow, Mama de Leche and Beth Yen. Last year, it was Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger who headlined the event.
