Salty skin, wind-swept hair and bleached sands. Sommer Swim’s 2021 collection reimagines a 70s jet-set lifestyle somewhere far from here.

The latest collection called Île Mustique conjures private islands, endless summer vacations, long days and longer nights spent dancing into the dusk.

A collection of wear-forever swim pieces, Île Mustique is bright, chic and refreshing. A selection of pastel piece and 70s-printed options, this curation will have you thinking about turquoise waters, morning swims and lazy days.

We spoke to Sommer Swim founder Anna-Maria Sommer to hear more about this wanderlust-inducing collection.

 

Tell us about ÎLE MUSTIQUE?

Our latest campaign was made in celebration of the joie de vivre of chic summers in the Caribbean among the 70’s jet set. Private island vacationing, a champagne-soaked lifestyle. Spritzers served poolside and lunch alfresco, before flitting via seaplane to a private beach. Cocktails awaiting you at an exclusive villa soiree in celebration of another sunset on the island. Île Mustique is the hedonism of a never-ending summer.

 

 

What inspired the collection?

This season I was inspired by the escapism captured in the Slim Aarons era of photography. Particularly the scenes from his ’89 island vacation in the Grenadines. Vibrant pastels hues reminiscent of the Caribbean’s sun and sea paved the way for our new season colour palette and print.

 

Do you have a favourite look?

In love with the new Cindy top due to its unique vintage shell detailing combined with our brazilian Robin bottoms.

 

Sommer Swim is made for a jet-set lifestyle. What is your favourite holiday destination?

My all time European summer favourite is my second Island home Ibiza, where I spend a lot of time. In particular Salinas, located in the South East of Ibiza, home to one of the most iconic beaches on the island.

 

What is your favourite thing about summer?

I feel very grateful, living between Ibiza and Bali, that I'm able to keep summers rolling all year around. I feel most at home by the beach and in a bikini. There's nothing greater than an afternoon glass of wine in the sun followed by a spontaneous long summer night adventure. Sun gives me energy. Summer feels like endless possibility.
