Another Elvis film is on the way, only this time Sofia Coppola and Jacob Elordi are involved

We appear to have a battle of the Elvises on our hands. It's not a new thing in the Elvis Presley fandom (especially if you've been to Parkes in January) but the phenomenon has made its way to Hollywood. First up, we've seen Austin Butler do his best as the so-called King of Rock n' Roll in Baz Luhrmann's biopic. And now, barely six months since Elvis hit the theatres, Sofia Coppola has thrown Jacob Elordi into the ring, tapping the Euphoria antagonist to play Elvis in her upcoming project, which in actual fact, doesn't centre the musician at all. Find everything we know about the Sofia Coppola movie, below.

What is the film about?

So if it doesn't focus on Elvis Presley, then what is the project actually about? Remember that saying, "behind every great man is a great woman"? Well, Coppola is shifting her gaze from Elvis to his wife Priscilla Presley, in a film based on her 1985 bestselling memoir Elvis and Me. Apparently the director has been hoping to start this project for some time now, and with Elvis being rediscovered by a new generation, people are hungrier than ever for more content on his life and those in his orbit.

Who is involved?

Now that Coppola has found her Elvis in Elordi, the natural next question is who will play Priscilla? Sofia Coppola has sat on that answer for a long time, revealing that Cailee Spaeny from Mare of Easttown has always been her top choice.

Like all exciting movies these days, A24 is throwing its support behind the film, as it did for Coppola's other projects On the Rocks and The Bling Ring. The director is also bringing on past collaborators to bring the project to life, like Director of Photography Philippe Le Sourd, Costume Designer Stacey Battat, Editor Sarah Flack, and Production Designer Tamara Deverell.

Is there a release date?

Given that the film has only just been announced, we won't have a premiere date for some time. Keep your eyes peeled.
