Sofia Coppola’s 90s style is inimitable

While we never really exited our Sofia Coppola phase, the "it" girl actress turned indie film director is certainly having a bit of a moment right now. From her recent, self-titled retrospective book launch, to the release of her newest feature film, Priscilla, we can't escape being reminded of our love for Coppola.

There are few corners of cinema, fashion, and music that Sofia Coppola hasn't touched in her storied career. The creative force behind cult classics like The Virgin SuicidesLost In Translation and Marie Antoinette, her cinematic influence is inimitable, as is her personal style. These days, you'll see her in tailored black trousers or Levi's jeans with a mens sky-blue button down on, headset around her neck while at work. Back in the 90s, aptly dubbed “girl-of-the-moment” by W Magazine, she was all slip dresses and baby tees, knee high boots and long golden hair. Below, we round up Sofia Coppola's best 90s looks that have endured the ages. Enjoy the hotness!

At the MTV VMAs, 1995, wearing a sheer purple lace slip with a tank top and briefs underneath. Perfection.

Proving once again that she's a fan of the purple slip – this time, paired with a cosy sweater.

At a red carpet event in a leopard waistcoat and black pants.

At the premiere of Singles, 1992.

With Keanu Reeves in an all black ensemble.

A layering queen.

The late 90s fur trimming, for us!

Out and about in the perfect jeans.

Loving the big groupie energy in this one.

With her father, Francis Ford Coppola, donning knee-high black socks, loafers, a mini skirt and denim jacket.

Nothing says the 90s like a slinku black slip dress on the red carpet.

In a double denim ensemble, and the world's cutest accessory.

A classic button-down look  from Coppola – paired with a lip look that perfectly matches her cup.
