From bleached brows to bread making, we take a retrospective look at the latest ‘RUSSH’ Weekend

russh weekend retrospective

Over the weekend, our beloved RUSSH community came together for the sixth instalment of RUSSH Weekend, a festival for creative minds. Farewelling the frosty winter and heralding the impending arrival of spring, the intimate online event was a space for big ideas, learning and creativity, from personal styling to bread making lessons. Here, we take a retrospective look back at the experience and what we learnt along the way at RUSSH Weekend.

Saturday, August 27th

Our weekend began with a 20 minute pilates session with House of Sculpt, easing us into the weekend with a ritual many will likely already be familiar with. Following on from the active start to the festival, we engaged in a styling session with Yasmin Suteja and Net-A-Porter, unpacking the tricks and tips to nail dressing for upcoming spring festivities and warmer weather – something we all needed a refresher course on considering the truly grim conditions of the last few months.

In the afternoon, courtesy of Nat Kelly, we unpacked the fundamentals of Benevolent Leadership learning the importance of a daily ritual and how this cog in the wheel of life can create neural pathways in the brain. And, in preparation for the evening ahead, Extra Silky taught us how to nail bleaching our brows for a bold-yet-simple new look that can be achieved on any face.

Sunday, August 28th

They say a Sunday well spent brings a week of content, and the RUSSH Weekend Sunday schedule was no exception to the rule. At 9AM, the day began with grounding meditation techniques from Ella Noah Bancroft that are transferable from the yoga mat to day-to-day life when you simply need a moment of pause amongst the chaos.

Come 1PM, it’s safe to say we were craving a snack and who better to learn a recipe from than Julia Ostro? The chef took us through her recipe for stuffed flatbread (cue: uncontrollable salivation), which we will now be adding into our weekly, no-fuss recipes rotation. Ideal viewing to accompany our fresh meal, we were presented with Making the World a Better Place with Creativity, an engaging conversation between Larissa Jane Ryan and Laura from Clothing the Gaps where the duo spoke of supporting Indigenous businesses, while also galvanising your own wardrobe.

To soothe us into Sunday evening in a blissful state before the cycle of the week begins once more, we ended the weekend with a Bedroom Session with Bella Amor, her dulcet tones and calming melody the ultimate way to round out this edition of the festival.
