Prepare to be obsessed with the new Prada x adidas Originals collaboration

A collaboration for the ages. Prada and adidas have announced that they will be collaborating to reimagine three new iterations of  Superstar sneakers, and they are dropping sooner than you may think.

When two classics come together, there is no doubt that timelessness will happen. The collaboration with Prada for the new Superstars will be launching September 8, 2020, and are set to launch in Prada boutiques and adidas flagship stores worldwide, alongside selected wholesalers. The range is also available via prada.com and adidas.com.

The unisex sneakers are and have always been inherently modern. The fundamental elements of the design remain with luxury updates that speak to the lexicon of both brand identities. Here, they emerge in three varying colourways: monochromatic black, black and white, and silver and white. The paired back colour scheme celebrates the timeless silhouette of the shoe and embodies the classic details that make the sneaker so recognisable. Three Stripes exist, as always, along the sides of the shoe, while the heel tab sports a Trefoil logo added for contrast. The shoes have the same rounded rubber capped toe, with the addition of the Prada logo stamped just above the mid-sole of the sneaker.

The black and white iteration is the closest we associate to the classic, while the monochromatic black feels slightly more restrained and fashion-forward with the chrome silver offering a statement option.

This collaboration is the second expression of its nature, with the two heritage brands having released a limited-edition sneaker and bowling bag earlier last year, and speaks to the ongoing nature of the relationship between the brands. Playing on their strengths, Prada X adidas fuses high-performance sportswear with a commitment to craftsmanship and luxury. The footwear collaboration is reportedly made in Italy by Prada's footwear specialists, and are "made with full-grain leather and heat-stamped with 'Made in Italy' marking its superlative quality" a few additions that set the footwear apart from it's original, more affordable iteration of the superstars.
