A tropical splice-up at Prada Spring Summer 26

Prada is one of those shows that feels like a true barometer of current tastes – existing as fashion's perennial North Star and yet, entirely outside of trends.

Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons' Spring Summer 26 show in Milan yesterday was no exception to the rule. Held in a vast, orange-drenched warehouse on the outskirts of Milan, the show was entitled 'BODY OF COMPOSITION', with a total of 53 exits.

The collection was as eclectic as ever – unexpected pairings and layerings taking on a 'glitch in the Matrix' type effect. Dazed Digital aptly described it as the 'Prada Randomizer' – a Frankenstein-ed splice-up of multiple garments coming together to form one.

But despite the contradictions and maximalism, there was still that undeniable through line. That signature preppy edge – pleated skirts and button-downs – but with that quintessential Prada sultriness that feels unexplainably chic.

Skirts of juxtaposing textures, colours and lengths were chopped and stitched together with a Neopolitan ice-cream effect, and pared-back with minimalist pinstripe bandeaus. Outerwear was oversized and slouchy – leather and canvas trenches were donned alongside MiuMiu-esque pocketed bloomers and scrunched-down sateen gloves.

The palette overall felt refreshingly summery. Like a tropical splice-up of khaki greens, sunshine yellows, buttery blues and – we love to see it – a reclamation of Millennial Pink.

A tailored navy-blue boiler suit opened the show, an apt manifestation of the show notes: "Meanings are reevaluated, shifted through their adjacencies. They fluctuate and change, both within singular garments and on the individual. Pieces have an inherent flexibility, an ability to adapt – and each of these compositions transforms constantly, insistently, in reaction to the now."

Beauty was also stripped back to its essence – faces only flirting with the notion of makeup. Brows were bold and untamed, and lips were kissed with the faintest veil of blush-pink.

Hair was pulled back or into ponytails (with a typically-Prada studied imperfection), or left loose and textured, as though fresh from a dawn swim before heading to the office.

The kitten heel was a stalwart in the collection, making its way down the SS26 runway in a variety of shapes, sizes and finishes. Some adorned in leather-tied bows, others looked to be fashion out of velcro straps, sporting crystal-embellished heels or elastic uppers.

The show's FROW was the House's usual mix of It-girls and creative muses – Emma Chamberlain, Carey Mulligan, Kerry Washington, Maya Hawke and Sadie Sink, along with K-pop band Enhypen, Peggy Gou, Charli D'amelio and Petra Collins.
