Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan could star in the next season of ‘Beef’

beef season 2

Along with The Bear, Netflix and A24 series Beef cleaned up during the last awards season, collecting a total of 21 awards – and for good reason. So if you're hungry for more of that juicy tension, the good news is another season of Beef is on the way. And there's been plenty of speculation about who might be season two's epic frenemies (since the show is looking at being an anthology series, rather than a continuation of Amy and Danny's storyline).

There's been speculation that May December actor Charles Melton and Priscilla star Cailee Spaeny were slated to be cast in the next season, and that Anne Hathaway and Jake Gyllenhaal were previously in talks. But we've received word that it's another critically acclaimed pairing that are likely to be Beef's next leading duo.

For everything we know so far about Beef season two, read on...

Who is in the cast?

Deadline had originally reported the names of four actors being tossed into the ring to star in season 2 of Beef. Lee Sung Jin reportedly has his eyes on Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway, co-stars in 2010 romcom Love & Other Drugs, as the first couple. Meanwhile, the second couple is allegedly Charles Melton off the back of his recent success on May December and Cailee Spaeny who starred as Priscilla Presley in Sofia Coppola's recent adaptation of the pop culture icon's memoir.

But as of this weekend, sources have now told Deadline that Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan are currently in negotiations to lead the upcoming second season, and could join Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny in the cast.

Do you think they'll have chemistry to match Ali Wong and Steven Yeun?

What is the plot of season 2?

The first season of the series is staged around a road rage incident which spawns bad blood between a self-made entrepreneur and a struggling contractor. As the series progresses, the stakes of the feud begin to unravel their relationships.

From what we know so far, season 2 of Beef will centre a similar premise, that is two feuding couples. But we're still waiting on confirmation of any further details.

Is there a trailer?

Seeing as there's still no official confirmation on casting, we'll have to wait a little while longer to see a trailer.

Release date

Admittedly, it's still early days. Considering casting choices are still up in the air, we have no concrete date for when the second season of Beef will drop. However, when it does, we know it will land on Netflix.
