Off-White is hosting its Spring Summer 21 show via a dystopian TV service

During a moment in history when tangible connection is few and far between, we are turning to sources of media to bind us back together. This is no secret. First, it was Netflix binges, then it was Tik Tok. Unfortunately, we are still missing real-time watching. Or are we? It's almost as though through streaming services and social media, we forgot that live TV exists, and this is exactly what Off-White's creative director, Virgil Abloh wants to remind us of.

At least, we think it is. The creative director will be sharing Off-White's Spring Summer 2021 collection via "Imaginary TV", an experimental presentation platform that will host Abloh's upcoming show. “Think personal connections through a public platform. Connecting the dots of distance through a global language. Linking up, even though we may be thousands of miles apart,"Abloh said in a press release.

As for any further info, we will admit that it's not particularly abundant. Would we expect much else from the king of symbolism? Not really. What we can expect, as gathered from the teaser below, is a 90s MTV-style newscast with a hint of dystopian future peeking through - a manifesto of the designers world view ATM, which is often inspired by a specific outlook on time, place and culture. In this iteration, it appears to mesh nostalgia and futurism together, which I suppose sums up how most of us are feeling these days. We certainly are longing for the good old days.

For those who are interested in tuning in, the event is 100% open to the public virtually, all you have to do is register for the event to view Off-White’s joint womenswear and menswear presentation, which will be live tonight, February 2 at 10 pm (AEST) via the Off-White website.  You can watch the teaser for what's in store, below.
