Kaia Gerber has been cast as a 70s manicurist in the series ‘Mrs. American Pie’

Modelling may have been the place she started, but Kaia Gerber has made it clear that acting is where she wants to be. In the last year Gerber has signed onto a handful of productions, like Emma Seligman's Bottoms and short film, The PalisadesNow, she's just been confirmed for a new project titled, Mrs. American Pie.

Put forward as a 10-part series, Mrs. American Pie is set during the early 1970s and Gerber has been tapped as a local manicurist called Mitzi. While Gerber is certainly the leading lady in our lives, the show centres on Kristen Wiig as Maxine Simmons, a woman attempting to break through into Palm Beach high society and secure a seat at the decadent dining table. According to Deadline, the series was developed by the inimitable Laura Dern, who will also act in a main role, and attempts to answer the questions of "who gets a seat at the table, how do you get a seat at the table, and what will you sacrifice to get there?"

Helming the series as director is Tate Taylor, meanwhile Abie Sylvia wrote the script. Joining Kaia Gerber, Kristen Wiig and Laura Dern on what is looking to be a formidable cast is Ricky Martin. Allison Janney from Juno, I, Tonya and American Beauty will also make an appearance. As will Leslie Bibb, Julia Duffy and Mindy Cohn. Characters range from tennis pros to society journalists, so the commentary will undoubtedly deal with the subjects of race and class.

As for a release date? For now we're being kept in the dark but we do know that the series, when released, will premiere on Apple TV+ first. So watch this space as more information slowly trickles out.
