If, like us, you've been longing for more of Anora's Russian breakout star, Mark Eydelshteyn, then boy do we have news for you. The actor has officially signed on to his next project, and it's none other than season two of the Mr and Mrs Smith television reboot.
He's once again joined by an enigmatic co-star, though this time it's Sophie Thatcher, the star of Heretic and Companion. If you're ready to be obsessed with Eydelshteyn all over again, keep reading for everything we know about Mr and Mrs Smith season two.
Who is involved?
Thatcher and Eydelshteyn will serve as the season's leads, taking over from Donald Glover and Maya Erskine. Glover won't be going far: he's the co-creator of the series, and will continue on as showrunner and executive producer. It's not clear whether the duo will reprise their roles, though the end of season one did leave the possibility there.
It's not clear yet whether Thatcher and Eydelshteyn will play the same characters, though we'd guess that, in the same way the television series made a departure from the original film, the new season will take a slightly new creative direction once again.
What is Mr and Mrs Smith about?
If you've somehow managed to miss the original film (starring Brad Pitt and Angeline Jolie, before they were a couple), allow us to fill you in. In this film, the titular characters are married, though neither knows about the other's secret spy career. In season one, this source material was adapted to tell the story of two strangers who land jobs with a spy agency that requires them to be in an arranged marriage. Perhaps season two will switch focus to another couple of strangers-turned-married-couple? What we do know, is that while season one was set and filmed in New York, season two will switch gears to California. Watch this space.
When does Mr and Mrs Smith season two come out?
Unfortunately, an exact date remains to be seen, though some have suggested a mid-2026 release. We'll keep you updated when we know more.
