A ‘RUSSH’ girl forever, Julia Nobis is our 100th issue cover star

We go way back with Julia Nobis. From her first leather-clad shoot called Rat Bag to an almost week-long Iberian escape for a cover like no other – Raw, Free and Feeling It – a moment she called a “beautiful experience” despite the meteorological challenges you can sometimes face on a peninsular over winter.

I am my best self when … Chaos surrounds me.

We knew her when she was studying quantum physics, lugging heavy textbooks between the shows, had a turtle named Cornelius and really liked to eat pizza. We watched on as she became one of the hardest working icons in the business. She was always going to be our ‘100’.

First impressions are … Not always correct, but they shouldn't be discounted either.

We don't use the term icon lightly, but someone of Nobis' standing is certainly worthy of it. Her resume reads as a who's who of the industry having walked for global brands including Chanel, Dior, Burberry, Calvin Klein, Valentino and more. From the sandy suburb of Bondi – scouted at Bondi Junction – the world has become her stage.

The future is … Coming, but I’m not placing any bets on where it’s going.

Infinite, self-determined, with limitless potential.  A chameleon in front our lens in New York City for this very special issue, we thought ‘baby, you are long way from the Bondi Junction bus exchange’. To the one that found her… thank you, forevermore.

To experience our 100th issue in its entirety, the May edition of RUSSH will be available on newsstands from May 19 and through our shop. Find a stockist near you.
