Netflix’s next installment of Conversations with a Killer will focus on notorious American serial murderer, Jeffrey Dahmer. Titled Conversations with a Killer: The Jeffrey Dahmer Tapes, the Netflix series will launch on October 7 and follows the Ted Bundy and Wayne Gacey tapes.
What will be covered in the Jeffrey Dahmer Netflix series?
As per the official description of the upcoming series, we can expect to be taken on a comprehensive journey through Dahmer’s disturbing exploits from the moment Milwaukee police entered his apartment to uncover a “personal museum of a serial killer: a freezer full of human heads, skulls, bones and other remains in various states of decomposition and display.” Dahmer swiftly confessed to the murders of 16 Wisconsin citizens over the previous four years, alongside an additional murder in Ohio in 1978. Dahmer is also a notable cannibal and engaged in necrophilia. The discovery inside his apartment in 1991 shocked Americans and the local community, many concerned a killer had been freely roaming the streets for such a long period, considering he had been convicted of sexual assault in 1988.
According to Netflix, the documentary – directed by Joe Berlinger – will include “never-before-heard audio interviews between Dahmer and his defense team, delving into his warped psyche while answering these open questions of police accountability through a modern-day lens.” It isn’t the only Jeffrey Dahmer series currently in the works from Netflix, with Ryan Murphy and Evan Peters currently working on Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story. A 2017 film, My Friend Dahmer, has also been produced, adapted from Derf Backderf’s graphic novel of the same name
