We need a girls’ night out – here’s what we’re wearing

It starts in the group chat. A time, a dinner reservation, the question: 'what are you wearing?' Screenshots fly back and forth. Whether it's celebrating a girlfriend's engagement, her 30th birthday, or simply to catch up after a while – there's always some excitement on the trot home from work or weekend errands to get ready for a girls night out. The ritual of girls night will never be lost on the RUSSH team, so without further ado, here's what we are reaching for when girls’ night is on the cards.

Your bag of choice can make or break a night out, and I recently came across the new Jaquemus Ovalo Clutch in this soft buttery yellow that feels ideal for gallivanting on the town. I’m at a point in my life where comfort takes precedence when I dress up – so a great top (like CAMILLA AND MARC's Siphon Off-Shoulder moment) paired with my ride-or-die COS Wool-Blend Pants is the ideal. And for scent (equally as important as the clothes), Marie Louis Marie Bois du Balincourt – sandalwood, cedarwood, spicy nutmeg and earthy vetiver. Perfection.

Lounge just dropped a collaboration with Sophia and Cinzia and I’m living for the cottagecore vibe. While it is still oh-so cold here, I will need layering but I have a couple things from the new drop in my cart that would be perfect for girls night out. I love the Belle Corset Top as well as the Eledora Corset Top. For the colder weather – I would pair either of these with some jeans and heels as well as a trench or some knitwear.

For jeans, I would go for CAMILLA AND MARC's Lennox Denim Jean or the Brynn Denim Jean which is coming soon. To keep warm I love Friend of Audrey's grey Fluffy Alpaca Cardigan and for those extra cool nights, I like this Third Form Classic Wool Coat.

For footwear, I would love to pick up these Horizon Black Vintage boots from Tony Bianco. From a girl who loves a huggie, larger hoops have been my latest jewellery roman empire, and these oversized hoops from Mejuri are versatile and not too big. To finish, a spritz or two of MERIT's Retrospect is a must.

My nights out are few and far between these days, but I do love to dress up when there’s something fun in my diary. I love a great mini dress and Beare Park does some of the best. The Royce in black is currently on my wish list. This sheer draped style from COS also looks beautiful — I’d layer it with a short silk slip and a great stiletto.

I’m a loyal Maison Essentiele lace fan and just got the Seerlucker Lace Maxi. I love the pieces because they’re versatile: over jeans, under a blazer or knit, with high waisted black briefs and a bralette… The possibilities are endless.

A night out isn’t complete without great shoes. I love a classic Manolo, these are timeless and not too high. Beauty-wise, I can’t go past YSL LoveShine on the lips, Tatcha Dewy Skin Mist and a head-turning fragrance. Dries Van Noten Rock The Myrrh is crazy-good. I’m also having a real moment with Matiere Premiere Vanilla Powder. It’s milky and warm but not sweet or dessert-like.

If I’m out with my girls you can bet I’m going for something fun. Ideally this red corset from Viktoria and Woods or this semi-sheer zebra top from Rat & Boa. To make the look more polished I’d be pairing it with some tailored pants in either red, black or this divine wine colour.

I also love a plunging neckline, whether it be a blazer worn with nothing underneath or something like this black dress. Both should be paired with statement earrings and an incredible pair of boots or heels. Finish with my favourite deep burgundy lipstick from M.A.C.

There are a few outfit formulas I rarely stray from on a night out. The first is pants and a cute top. On the top of my ‘cute top’ wishlist at the moment is this backless number by Alfie Paris, this lacey style by Maison Essentiele (perfect for the current cold) and this polka dot tank by Realisation Par — I think silver is so fun for a nighttime event. As for pants, I think this low-rise chocolate pinstripe pair by Bec and Bridge is cool (and a nice deviation from the standard black I typically reach for), as are these silky cream ones from Reformation.

Otherwise, you’ll usually find me in some form of mini. My P Johnson Chelsea dress is really getting a workout at the moment — paired with some sheer tights and my Tony Bianco boots. Also quite obsessed with this chocolate mini skirt from Maggie Marilyn, but I need a special occasion to justify pulling the trigger.

My favourite kind of night. I have been eyeing off this All Is A Gentle Spring bodice for a while now, but I'm yet to follow through with the purchase. I must say, however, I have a few pieces from the brand already and their quality is amazing. Another piece is Buci’s poncho that I have been eyeing off for a hot minute too: the perfect silhouette and with just the right amount of sheerness. The P Johnson organza top is another beautiful sheer piece, and I love it paired with their bralette. And of course, wine would be present at a girls night, and I love to bring a good bottle of red. I think something like this Cordera beaded bag to carry wine in would be so cute.

Come with me while I pretend like summer is here instead of the current slate of 10 degree days. My ideal outfit for a girls night is sparkly. When I’m with the girls only, I do really love to dress up and show some skin. I cannot tell you just how many times I’ve looked at this Isabelle Quinn set. As soon as the temperature jumps over 20 degrees, I’m adding to cart. Over the top, I’ll add an oversized blazer. I love this Camilla and Marc iteration. For heels, these strappy chocolate Bec & Bridge ones are the perfect height. To tie it all together, I have this dainty necklace from Natalie Marie Jewellery with a champagne diamond and I would love the Songmont Luna bag in this brownie burgundy. You can wear this bag in so many ways, I’m desperate to buy it. The finishing touches are my essentials: the Toffee cream blush from Flavedo and my MAC Cosmetics Woodwinked eyeshadow.
