Perhaps it's safe to say that the raincoat has possibly become that crucial item that most often gets overlooked when one considers in building their wardrobe. And of course, there's none other than creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri of Dior to offer the world a solution that is both chic, practical and luxury.
As a part of Fall 2021, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Dior unveil what they have considered to be an essential with the release of its official Raincoat, the new acclaimed object of desire for any Dior enthusiast.
Dior puts the struggling times of wind swept umbrellas well and truly behind us with a new waterproof coat inspired by the shapes and silhouettes of a coat designed for the Maison in the 1950s. The style pays its tribute to pop aesthetics and colour featuring a rather distinctive leopard pattern in silk taffeta and transparent vinyl. All encompassing and complete with a matching vinyl bucket hat as the ultimate accessory, the cinched waist and voluminous skirt only further signifies Dior, taking form of the iconic silhouette imagined by Christian Dior for post war women in the 50s that placed the Maison on the map as a legacy.
If the silhouette wasn't enough to signify Dior, the iconic Dior Oblique motif signature is imprinted all throughout in the raincoats completion. Similarly to the Dior Signature eyewear campaign, Dior once again works alongside a legend, collaborating with the world renown 80s polaroid photographer Maripol in lensing the new campaign.
Rain, hail or shine indeed, Dior's new essential raincoat will place itself in the wardrobes of many not only a wet weather necessity, but an eccentric take on everyday wear and dress. The emblematic Dior raincoat is up for discovery in all Dior boutiques and on dior.com from the beginning of April 29th.
