A sight for sore eyes with Dior’s new eyewear line, Dior Signature


Eyewear has always been a tricky one. Similar to buying a pair of jeans, it has to be just right and right just for you. Something that is impossible to gift or even on the rare occasion buy online, and for those of us living near the equator, eyewear is as crucial as sunscreen.

Recently having learnt about all the harmful effects of UV rays on our eye health, it had come to my attention that there was a reason why sunglasses were invented and perhaps there was more to it then being just an accessory to elevate ones daily outfit.

So it comes to no surprise that I am pleased to announce another eyewear line that's up for exploring. Best be known for never being one to shy away from the iconic and bold, Dior unveils its new eyewear collection titled Dior Signature to join its impressive current line up. Designed by womenswear creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri for Fall 2021, the new eyewear line, Dior Signature is both big, distinct and comes in varying volumes.

We see black acetate, tortoiseshell, graphic lines and curves in square, butterfly or aviator - take your pick. Taking inspiration from the Maisons house codes, each frame is punctuated at the temple with the "Christian Dior" signature logo that we see gracing several of their seasons accessories.

Modern, bold and nothing short of a statement - the campaign further heralds heroism in its collaboration working with French American designer, stylist and photographer Maripol. Best known for her polaroid photography and her styling work with Madonna and Grace Jones throughout the 80s, the eyewear campaign is lensed through the polaroid eyes of Maripol, starring some iconic new faces in the industry in an eclectic campaign shoot styled with Dior's bold leopard print ready-to-wear.
