Ultimate girl crush Dakota Johnson stars in the new trailer for Cha Cha Real Smooth, one off the most anticipated romantic comedies of the year. A hit at the Sundance Film Festival, it featured Johnson portraying a single mother in the film which also stars Leslie Mann.

What is the plot of Cha Cha Real Smooth?

The film centres on the story of Andrew (Cooper Raiff) who has recently finished university and has nowhere to go but home to his mother, portrayed by Mann, her boyfriend (Brad Garrett) and his little brother. With a job at a local food court not what he had envisioned for himself after completing study, he is left despondent. Andrew attends a bat mitzvah with his brother and hypes attendees up to get on the dance floor and boogie.

This is where he meets Domino (Johnson) and her autistic daughter, Lola, and employs his natural charm to connect with the pair, Domino then offering him a babysitting job as a result. As he begins to spend more time with the mother-daughter duo, he begins to develop feelings for Domino, however she is already engaged to someone else. Like any a good romantic comedy, this doesn’t deter Andrew and it appears from the trailer he will continue to pursue Johnson’s character while concurrently becoming more of an adult himself.

Raiff acts as a triple threat in Cha Cha Real Smooth as the actor also wrote and I recited the film, his second project after debut film Shithouse (2020), which also received much prizes after debuting at SXSW. Johnson is also currently starting and producing The End of Getting Lost alongside Paul Mescal and Margaret Qualley, with a release date still to be announced.
