Back to the future – Burberry releases capsule of reimagined classics, ‘Burberry’s Future Archive’

Burberry's Future Archive

Look to the future with a return to the past – a sentiment luxury British fashion house Burberry is championing in their latest limited-edition capsule collection, Burberry's Future Archive. The latest instalment from designer and the brand's CCO, Riccardo Tisci is inspired by the heritage brand's rich history; resulting in a unique capsule of contemporary Burberry signatures.

Burberry's Future Archive has been designed exclusively, with each piece numbered and available in limited editions of 150 pieces. Drawing on the rich heritage of outerwear synonymous with the house, the collection of reinterpreted classics from within the Burberry archive reinforce the timeless and perennial nature of the brand as it continues to build on its new heritage.

Paying homage to its roots, the collection features a series of diamond-quilted coats, bomber and field jackets – hallmark pieces within the house. Outerwear isn't the only focus however, Burberry's Future Archive also including tailored jackets and trousers, as well as accessories from bucket hats to backpacks, scarves to Cube bags – for men and women.

A standout piece from the collection is the unisex diamond-quilted nylon parka styled with a cut-out hem and trench-inspired back panel in cotton gabardine. Burberry's vintage check motif partially lines the design, introducing a sense of nostalgia for the brand's past while writing its future.

In the world of accessories, the bucket hat proves its lasting tenure as the year's most sought after accessory. Two iterations, both in nylon and twill, feature utilitarian pocket and belt details inspired by the bomber jacket and the signature Burberry trench. The reconstructed bucket hat unzips to become a visor, a testament to the collections versatile nature.

The campaign, captured by Alessio Bolzoni, is set in a contemporary space which celebrates the dualistic contrast between modernity and timelessness and features models Jourdan Dunn and Adrian Chabada.

The collection will be sold in a selection of Burberry stores, and exclusively through Mytheresa from January 5.
