Ariana deBose won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in Westside Story, 60 years after Rita Moreno won for the same role. Watching on from the audience, it was clear the immense pride she felt for deBose.

 

Hosts returned to the Oscars for the first time in as many years

Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes and Regina Hall hosted the ceremony in a showing of female comediennes at their best. It is the first time the awards have had dedicated hosting team since 2018.

 

Troy Kostur won Best Supporting Actor, the first deaf man to win

The Coda star becomes the first deaf male actor to ever win an Academy Award, making it one of the best moments in Oscars history.

 

Beyoncé performed. Enough said.

Her first award ceremony performance in more than five years, Beyonce delivered in a rendition of her song Be Alive. The singer was introduced by tennis players Serena and Venus Williams.

In what was truly one of the best moments of the Oscars, shared between two showbiz legends, birthday girl Lady Gaga and icon Liza Minnelli were tasked with presenting the final award of the evening, Best Picture. In a sweet exchange between the two, Gaga is heard saying to Minnelli “I’ve got you,” to which she replies “I know that.”

 

Kristen Stewart said 'nope' to heels after the red carpet

In perhaps the most relatable moment of the evening, Kristen Stewart doesn’t have time for heels and neither do we. Long may the party flat reign.

 

Will Smith and Chris Rock clashed

We must address the incident between Will Smith and Chris Rock, as conversations around the world continue. While presening the Best Documentary award, Rock quipped about Jada Pinkett-Smith’s bald head, leaving Smith frustrated and taking his anger to the stage… and Rock’s face.
