One week into winter and already itching for a tropical vacay? Check out our pick of the best hotels in Bali

Australians are known for being pretty tough as a populous, but if there's one frontier we're timid on it's bracing for the cold. As soon as the temperatures dip below 20°C, we're blasting heaters and donning thermals en masse. Now that we're a week into winter, some of us are already dreaming of a summer vacay in Europe. But there's another popular tropical destination much more accessible to the everyday Aussie – Bali.

A mere six-seven hour flight from Sydney and Melbourne (even less if you're flying out of Queensland), it's a destination we've been dreaming of for its gorgeous villas, beach-side locale and of course, for its delicious Indo cuisine.

If you're thinking of taking a mid-winter trip to a Balinese paradise, we've picked out the best hotels and AirBnB stays that we have at the top of our to-stay list.
