Behold, the memes that carried us over the finish line of 2020

2020 memes

The 2020 memes that sum up the year that was, best.

We all know that 2020 was a dumpster fire, and there aren't many more ways we can describe it. Unfortunately for us, it's becoming harder and harder to believe that the year that was, was a glitch in the simulation, and more likely the result of decades of treating our planet like said dumpster which is now up in (literal) flames. This also means that 2021 may not look especially different, especially on the topic of the climate crisis, COVID-19, and an increased amount of natural disasters.

While the year has been bleak as hell, and most of us have been merging into the void that is the internet for the past 12 months, some absolutely a-class memes have been appearing out of the woodworks. While rounding up our favourite memes of the year would likely take weeks, we've decided to compile our favourite to have emerged from the holiday period, as a final bout of holiday cheer, and to gear us up for the year ahead. Please enjoy.

We've all taken a hit.

A Northern Beaches NYE mood.

Me, watching my 20's be whittled away by sourdough starter and 9:00 pm bedtimes.

All of us in Sydney for the next month.

Sad, but necessary.

Emerging from this year mentally battered and bruised.
