Since Melbourne implemented mask mandates to attempt to slow the spread of their second wave coronavirus disaster, Sydney-siders and others around Australia have been wondering if they should be doing the same.
We already know that wearing a mask within your community can help to protect yourself and others, and have explained why here, but Stevie Nicks has written a special message, addressed to the citizens of the world, on how gravely she wants everyone to start wearing a damn mask, and we don't blame her.
Nicks took to Twitter last week to share a note she apparently jotted down at 6:50 am urging everyone to just do the right thing and wear a mask so we can all get on with our lives, clearly directed at those who still believe wearing a mask is an infringement on basic human rights. I will point out, that if you're not keen on wearing a mask because you're under the impression you "can't breathe", I doubt catching COVID-19 - a respiratory virus - will hardly be your cup of tea, either.
Nicks writes, “If everyone could just wear a mask and stay in as much as possible — you might be able to find this magical place I have found, in the early morning when everyone sleeps.” the journal entry shared to twitter speaks of the quiet and hopefulness she feels as she lies in her bed early in the morning, listening to Crosby, Stills and Nash and the Rolling Stones (of course she is) before the reality of the world starts closing in.
In the heartfelt note, she expresses hope for a pandemic-free future, “I want to go back on the road. I want to sing for you again. I want to put on those high black suede platform boots and dance for you again. I want you to forget the world and sing with me. Please don’t throw this world away. Please don’t give up on humanity and let this virus win this war. It is up to us now.”
If the will of Nicks isn't enough to make you wise-up and wear a mask, we don't know what will. Is there anything worse than letting this legendary angel down?
