ST ROSE’s new scent Vigilante is celebrated in a new film – and all the proceeds will go to charity

ST ROSE Vigilante

Artisanal fragrance maker ST. ROSE has released its latest scent with a new campaign.

It's called Vigilante and it has been inspired by the free spirits, quiet rebels and non-conformists who have shaped our world. The name comes from the Latin ‘to be wide awake,’ a perfect descriptor for this evocative new scent.

Vigilante comes to us with an exciting new film, featuring Australians Victoria Lee and Neada Deters among other creatives. Titled A Revelation, the film explores the awakening of new understanding and experience that has come from the events of 2020.

A piece captured over Zoom by Heather Hazzan, we hear about the highs and lows and the essence of a shared connection.

ST. ROSE founder and creative director, Belinda Smith, was inspired by the unconquerable human spirit of her native Australia during the devastating wildfires that took hold in late 2019 and continued to catastrophic proportions in early 2020.

Belinda Smith said: “I’ve always loved a bit of a quiet rebel, those who in their tireless pursuits continue to push against the grain. That unconquerable spirit is inspiring and contagious. It is that essence which I hoped to capture in this new fragrance. Of all the mavericks I adore, it’s the artists who don’t just paint, compose, or write what they see, but rather what they wish the world to see; who are my favorite type of renegade. In their finished works we share a common experience and that sentiment of oneness is something I hope we all wake up to; may art inspire the way.”

To create the new scent, ST ROSE partnered with Givaudan, global leader in the fragrance industry with a rich heritage of creating experiential scents. Created by world renowned Givaudan perfumer Linda Song, Vigilante is both masculine and feminine, light and dark, floral and woody.

But this is no regular perfume. Some of the key ingredients include responsibly-sourced Australian Sandalwood as well as upcycled ingredients like Rose Concentrate and Moroccan Cedarwood Atlas. These upcycled ingredients have come from a process of transforming side streams of raw materials to reveal new olfactive facets - a significant step forward for conservation and sustainability.

Perfumer Linda Song, Korean-American Brooklynite takes her inspiration from her travels. She explains: "It was Belinda's Australian background that led her to discover Givaudan's Sandalwood Spicatum, but it was the exploration of raw materials that made this a truly collaborative process. I shared my love for the upcycled Cedarwood Atlas, which tied in so perfectly with Belinda's original concept for Vigilante, paired with Australian sandalwood."

Vigilante will be available October 2020 in a 50ml Eau de Parfum, priced at $165 USD, available to purchase via the brand’s online store and among select US and Australian retailers. STROSE will be donating proceeds from every sale to support the key organisations @naacp @wild.ark @wfmhofficial and @nbcf. Customers can select where to send their donations at the checkout.
