Lena Dunham and Sarah Paulson are working on a series, ‘Sex Act’

If a project helmed by Jeremy O. Harris and Lena Dunham has your senses tingling, we've got some exciting news for you. There's a new project en route to Netflix titled Sex Act, courtesy of the duo, writer Raffi Donatich, and Sarah Poulson. Even better, the show has something of an unusual premise – it centres on an intimacy coordinator who has never been kissed. Here's what you need to know.

Who's involved?

The series is the brainchild of Raffi Donatich — who you might remember as the writer behind TIFF hit (and Maude Apatow's directorial debut) Poetic License. Donatich brings a fresh voice to television, as part of a new wave of female writers rising to prominence.

She’s joined by none other than Jeremy O. Harris (who wrote Zola and Slave Play) and Lena Dunham, who’s been reclaiming her TV throne with post-Girls projects of late (like her recent hit, Too Much). Together, they’ll executive produce under Harris’ company bb² and Dunham’s Good Thing Going, with Dunham also expected to direct.

And in what might be the most exciting casting rumour of the year, Sarah Paulson is in talks to star. In other words, we're already seated.

What is Sex Act about?

Sex Act follows the story of an intimacy coordinator — someone whose literal job is navigating and choreographing  on-screen sex scenes — who, plot twist, has never been kissed in real life.

At the hands of Donatich, Harris, and Dunham, we’re expecting something sharp, perhaps a little unhinged, and no doubt very funny.

So, when will it come out?

There’s no official date release just yet — the series is still in development, with Donatich currently writing and Paulson’s involvement apparently hinging on the final scripts.

If all goes to plan, we predict Sex Act could premiere sometime in late 2026.
