When it comes to footwear, I’m pretty particular, largely because I won’t compromise on comfort. However, I have a few pairs in my wish list at the moment that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about. The first are the Birkenstock Bostons in dark brown suede, which are the ultimate easy slip-on shoe for when you need to check your mail or stomp to the grocery store. As mentioned in my last edit, I don’t think there’s a cooler sneaker on the market right now than the Wales Bonner x adidas sambas. And as a boot person through-and-through, right now my hyperfixations are the MIISTA Cass in burgundy (the colour of the AW24 season), and every iteration of the iconic Burberry Saddle boot.

Shoes are what I live for. And can you believe, I don’t have a good boot? I am in dire need of a staple boot for winter and so I’m tossing up between a few options. Do I go a biker boot like these Guess ones, a knee high icon such as this Legres option or an Aussie classic from RM Williams? So much to think about, but they all feel like styles that I will love for seasons to come.

Oh and because I love a loafer, I’m seriously considering a brown pair to go with my black ones, and this is a hot contender right now.

In the theme of yellow, I do love these Toy Loewe pumps, since last september fashion week when most celebrities attending Loewe’s show wore them, I was converted to really like them. And while I haven't fully been converted to the dark side of Maison Margiela Tabis, I’m warming up with this pair of ballet flats from them. However, I did see Zendaya wearing some beige Tabis and god she makes me want them now. The power of Zendaya.

I don’t care if Gen-Z calls them Mojo Jojo boots, my love affair with chelsea boots will never die. I’ve had this Proenza Schouler pair and this The Row pair saved on my phone for a few weeks, and I’m still tossing up between them. The only other winter shoe I’m considering is maybe a mary jane or a ballet flat. I love this square-toe Mansur Gavriel hybrid.

Then again, I’m not sure I’ll even need new winter shoes. For boots, I’ve only bought very high quality or luxury pieces since I was about 24, and I take them to a boot maker for repairs every season. As such, I still have five or six pairs with at least a decade of life left in each pair. I’m someone that would much rather buy less to focus on more luxurious pieces.

Without wishing to sound like I have some sort of fetish, I am a slave to boots. Black leather boots are the only thing I tend to ever want to invest in as they immediately command authority without losing comfort. These black go-go boots by Courrèges are undeniably sexy and I imagine you could still run in them, if necessary. For an over the knee option these Black Raven Boots by Givenchy are haunting my dreams, I would do some fairly drastic things to obtain them. My inner teenage goth cannot go past the Marc Jacobs Kiki boots as they would just look incredible on stage and expose me to a different altitude. However, there are rare occasions where I like colourful femme shoes, (or what my mother would call, shoes to sit down in) so for those occasions these green crystal numbers from Bottega Veneta would suit me just fine.

Footwear has been on my mind lately. I’m not sure if it’s the change in season or all of the trends we are seeing, but I’m here for it. And while I’m here, I must admit I do play into trends – but… I am conscious enough to wait it out and see if it’s a short lived love-affair before I invest.

Firstly, I know I’m not the only one wanting a pair of boots for winter and these from Ganni are fun; stepping into the Beyonce ‘Cowboy Carter’ trend. Paired with some jeans, a button up and cute cardigan and it’s a done deal.

A brand I die for with footwear is Miu Miu. RIP me and my bank account is all I can say. These ballerinas have been on my wishlist for months, so I’ll keep on dreaming. And I may as well throw these loafers in while I’m at it. Grandpa core every day, baby.

Footwear AW24I am more adventurous with footwear than I am with the rest of my wardrobe. I have some ridiculous shoes I hardly wear, but I love them. If I’m going to play into trends, I also find shoes are a low stakes way to do so (I see you, ballerinas). I have a pair of Essen flats that I adore, and I really, really want this chocolate shade. I think chocolate is a great neutral in the realm of footwear. I also need a nice low black heel I can actually walk a few blocks in. I initially wanted the satin Prada mules, but they’re kind of everywhere now... This Toteme option feels a little more understated. Finally, I’m chasing new sneakers. I am someone who loves to walk (friends will vouch for this). My Asics are falling apart, and the soles came off my Stella McCartney Adidas pair (caveat, the most comfortable sneakers I’ve ever worn). I think I want all black Salomons next, specifically these.

Footwear for AW24It’s all about easy flats for me this season, and with an upcoming trip I’ve got my eye on those Miu Miu ballet flats. I’ll also be taking over my new A.Emery flats, so easy and light for packing (and they go with everything!). These Toteme t-strap flats are a beautiful update on a classic mary-jane style, and love the idea of a tan flat to pair back with autumn neutrals. I also can’t go past a good sneaker, and I’m hoping to pick up a pair of New Balance while I’m away that will last the distance.

I try to avoid trends but ‘balletcore’ got me. I love Miuccia Prada’s Anarchic Ribbon Flats from Miu Miu’s Spring 2016 show but if I were to invest, and I like that these are a little less common, the MM6 Maison Margiela Atomic Satin Ballerina Shoes are beautiful, I also love this version. I’m very into styling fancy dresses with a good sneaker, these Asics are on my list alongside the Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66’s (the avoiding trends thing is clearly going well this season).

I wear plain suit pants with a shirt or tee almost everyday so for something a bit crazy these Jil Sander crystal-embellished flats are pretty amazing, so are these sculptural Prada pumps.
