Meet Oroton’s Mica — the bag that goes where you go

In partnership with Oroton

In today’s world, versatility isn’t a luxury — it’s essential. Our busy days rarely unfold neatly. Instead, for many of us, it's a dance from one role to the next, carefully balancing responsibilities, plans, and spontaneity in the process. It’s this dynamic rhythm that inspired Oroton's Mica.

More than just a bag, the Mica is a daily companion. Spacious without sacrificing sophistication, it's designed to adapt: from morning meetings to midnight plans, from laptops to lipstick. We spent time with three women — each navigating different creative chapters of life — who all reach for the same thing when they leave the house: the Mica.

There’s Ashleigh Huynh, the It-girl creative whose days blur between castings, brand shoots and evening dog walks. Kate Bucceri, a full-time working mum of two who knows that style is about ease, confidence and structure. And Kirsty Thatcher, our own digital editor at RUSSH, who balances deadlines and editorial meetings at an always-rapid pace.

Below, they let us in on how they style their Mica, what lives inside it, and why it’s the bag that never gets left behind.

What does a typical day in your life look like right now?

Lately it’s been running from brand shoots to acting class, coffee meetings with my interior designer (we’re currently renovating our new Surry Hills apartment which is super exciting), answering emails over a quick lunch, reformer Pilates classes, and walking my family’s mini schnauzer puppy Beckett in the evenings when my husband comes home. Always a jam-packed day but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

How would you describe your style?

A nice intersection between preppy and romantic, tailored structure and off-duty ease.

You’re constantly on the go — between castings, meetings, and events. How do you stay organised without sacrificing style?

For me, staying organised is part of my style. I’m that girl who plans her looks ahead of time (I’ve literally once jumped out of bed before to mood board an outfit for a big event because it came to me just as I was falling asleep). For days that are a bit more full-on, I have a few trusty fallbacks: a capsule wardrobe with quality pieces, a chic bag with practical compartments, and a go-to pair of sunglasses. I like keep my on-the-go outfits effortless and easy to mix and match, but always with one standout detail.

What’s always in your bag, no matter where you're headed?

My Prada Beauty Balm, Rhode lip tint, Miu Miu tortoiseshell sunnies, digital camera and K-beauty blotting paper (the best!).

What's one moment this week where the Mica was truly put to the test?

It’s not often I find a bag that’s not only chic, but big enough to fit my digi camera when I’m out shooting during the day. The Mica bag did it all for me this week when I was running from a meeting to a shoot, then to a brand event later that evening. It’s a small but mighty piece, and the colours are so on-point as well.

How has your style evolved as your career has grown?

I was admittedly swayed by style trends in the early days, and had to learn to trust my own style instincts, rather than rely on what other people are wearing. As I’ve grown, I’ve learnt that true style is so intrinsically tied to the inherent purpose of why you wear your clothes: the intention. Your clothes have to be lived in; they have to experience life with you. I recognise this can be so hard in this digital trend silo that internet culture has created. But I find myself constantly coming back to the notion that clothes are meant to be cherished and lived in. The most stylish people to me are the ones who wear their clothes with a kind of ease that can only come from authenticity. When your wardrobe speaks to your purpose, getting dressed becomes a form of self-anchoring. It’s not performative, it’s not about a curated aesthetic. It’s about pieces that move with you, work for you, live with you.

The Mica transitions easily from just about any scenario — meetings to events, castings to coffee — what’s your trick for doing the same with your outfit?

My trick is building a bit of a bag capsule in my wardrobe that is part timeless, and part trend-driven, because a good bag does all the heavy lifting for your outfit (literally and figuratively). I find I tend to go bolder with my bags: unexpected colours, textures, silhouettes. They’re such an easy way to add interest and personality to your look without overthinking it. I love a piece with multiple strap options so I can throw it over my shoulder for meetings or castings, then switch it up to a top handle look for a dinner event. Bags are truly the unsung hero of a busy-girl wardrobe.

What does a typical day in your life look like right now?

Very busy and frantic! Working full time and having two small boys, it's always chaos — but beautiful chaos at least. I am an extremely early riser so I wake up around 4.30am to head to the gym, then get ready for work and get the kids ready for the day. Afterwards, I get some 'me time' in the car on the way to work with a coffee and a podcast. If I'm lucky, after work I'll squeeze in a quick catch up with friends for a drink and early dinner.

What does ‘style’ mean to you in your everyday life — especially balancing work and motherhood?

Style to me is feeling comfortable but confident. I like to wear things that make me feel good – whether that be a well cut blazer, good pair of jeans or a super fab piece of jewellery.

Has becoming a mother changed the way you approach fashion or personal style?

It has changed it a lot. I'm more focused now on wearing classic, well-made pieces instead of buying more trend items. I am more considered, but I think that just comes with getting older and knowing yourself better.

Your time is incredibly precious — how do you choose accessories that keep up with your busy schedule?

I like a bag that can house my life in it but still look chic enough to take to a bar or lunch meeting. Oroton styles are perfect for this: classic but cool, and always with great practicality.

How does the Mica support your daily routine, balancing both your work life and motherhood?

My new Mica bag has been perfect for keeping all my daily needs in one bag. I love that it fits a laptop, make up bag, change of shoes and still looks good. The combination of suede and leather works really well for transition from day into night, and goes with my wardrobe.

When you think about your wardrobe, what are the essentials that help you move seamlessly through your day?

I think every woman should invest in good accessories: a good quality bag that can stand the test of time, and beautiful jewellery. Accessories can lift any outfit and in my opinion are the best investment.

What does a typical day look like for you as RUSSH’s digital editor?

No two days ever look quite the same! My mornings start early, with a quick scan of what’s happening in the news cycle (fashion and otherwise), followed by planning and publishing content with the team. Then it’s usually meetings, lots of editing, and more writing.  I’m often ducking out to see a new collections and conduct interviews, too. And after work, it's either a quick change and off to an event, or if I have the night off, I like to squeeze in Pilates or a run.

How would you describe your personal style in three words?

Timeless, unfussy, fun.

How do you curate your wardrobe when your days move so quickly — from office to after-hours?

I rely heavily on pieces that can do most of the heavy-lifting for me. Trousers or vintage denim, a great tailored jacket, my favourite loafers, and a good bag are usually the basis of my outfit day-to-day. If I'm heading out in the evening, I'll layer up the jewellery and switch into some heels.  A good bag is key, too. It needs to hold everything (my laptop comes with me literally everywhere), but preferably not look like it is. Chic and practical.

What role does a good bag play in your daily routine?

It needs to be reliable, well put together, and able to handle the chaos of a day that never quite goes to plan. I’m constantly on the move, so I need something that carries all the bits and pieces I pick up along the way: my laptop, beauty products, receipts, notebooks, snacks, the list goes on. But I also want it to look polished, like it’s part of the outfit, not an afterthought. The Mica has that quiet luxury quality — it’s functional without ever feeling too practical. And it makes even the most thrown-together outfit look intentional.

What are the non-negotiables in your work wardrobe?

Anything that marries comfort with polish. If something doesn’t feel good to wear for eight hours (and then possibly another three at an event), it doesn’t make the cut. At the moment, it's flats (I have suede ballet flats I'm obsessed with), my trench coat, and my Mica bag, which really pulls everything together.
