‘Normal People’ season 2? Is that you?

Normal People Season 2

It was the show that moved us, shook us and made us fall head over heels for a delicate silver chain....  Intense, joyous, heartbreaking and liberating all at the same time, Normal People follows the journeys of two uniquely misunderstood characters, Marianne Sheridan and Connell Waldron. Their stories take us from the misty hills of country Ireland to sultry summers in Tuscany and back again. The 2020 TV-series adaptation of Sally Rooney's cult best-seller is essential watching.

The cultural impact of Normal People is undeniable. A series that bloomed just as many of us entered into the first stage of COVID lockdowns, delving into the world of Normal People as a form of escapism was a distinctive yet shared experience. Thus, it was no surprise that fans of Connell Waldron and Marianne Sheridan (including the RUSSH team) have been begging for an update to their story.

It looks like the universe finally has delivered.

What we know about a season 2 so far

In a not-so-cryptic post to Instagram, the show's lead actors Daisy Edgar-Jones and Paul Mescal posed for a photo on Edgar-Jones's Instagram Story. The snap was captioned "We've got some news to share!! Watch this space." Reading between the lines, and noting the ear-to-ear grins of the two co-stars, surely this can only mean one thing? A return of Normal People in some way shape or form.

The plot thickens when we note that film production company Element Pictures reshared Edgar-Jones' story on their own Instagram account. It's clear this is more than just a social catch up between the leads.

Now we're left to ponder what it all might mean. A bonus episode Euphoria style? A reunion moment? Or perhaps it is indeed the long-awaited announcement of a season 2 that so many of us have been craving ever since we finished the first season.

Nothing has been posted on either Edgar-Jones' or Mescal's IMDb profiles as of yet, but we will indeed be watching this space.

Stay tuned for what is almost sure to be a season 2.
