Here they are. We sat down with the 'New Faces' of the Majestic Issue and asked them about their hopes, dreams, secret talents and what they believe in above all else.

My name is … Mun. But my friends call me … Odell Mun. I am … 20 years old. The first thing you should know about me is … I’m not a fan of dogs or any pets. My star sign is … Sagittarius. It suits me because … It matches my personality with the whole idea of us being independent and strong-willed. How were you discovered and when did you start modelling? My agency found me on TikTok and then contacted me through my Instagram. From there, we got on Zoom and before I knew it I had my first agency contract.

 

"We should all be artists and create a meaningful life for ourselves, the planet and the people around us. Creativity is adding meaning to a meaningless world."

My ultimate dream is to … Have the loudest voice. Praying that my creativity and structure of life get me there. I feel most glamorous when … My pearl necklace touches my neck. My ultimate moment of indulgence … Is when Afro beats or a bit of Ye come on my speakers. Introvert or extrovert? Extrovert. A memory that defined me … Was seeing a video of the Kris Van Assche jacket on A$AP Rocky. It’s amazing to see how creative some people can get and where that creativity can take them.

My name is … Daila Melkis. But my friends call me … Day. But mainly Daila. I am … Currently on my 20th rotation around the sun. The first thing you should know about me is … I’m a queer plant lover and feminist. My star sign is … Libra. It suits me because … I’m searching for balance and really trying to be as loving as I can be in my lifetime. My secret talent is … I can cook a mean vegetarian lasagne.

 

"I feel most glamourous when I’m dancing barefoot in the bush or my bedroom wearing clothes that make me feel glamorous – but that changes everyday depending on my mood."

 

How were you discovered and when did you start modelling? I started doing small modelling gigs for my sisters’ creative friends when I was 16-17, but I was only represented by my agencies in 2020. I’m really happy to be part of two great agencies who believe in me immensely. Something I truly believe in is … Gentleness, kindness and the power of Mother Gaia (mother nature). Someone I look up to is … I look up to many humans like Leah Thomas, Indira Scott, David Bowie, Costa Georgiadis, Willow Smith and my Grandma. I admire these people because they have really fought to smash down the boundaries society has placed upon them. When I’m not modelling you can find me … In a garden or the bush drinking tea or coffee. My ultimate dream is to … See unity and have climate change taken seriously. I feel most glamorous when … I’m dancing barefoot in the bush or my bedroom wearing clothes that make me feel glamorous – but that changes everyday depending on my mood.

My best kept secret is … My love for mullets. My ultimate moment of indulgence … Is waking up whenever I want and that first coffee of the day. I also love the freedom of having no plans and getting to decide what I do with my day.  A tradition I hold onto is … My daily self love rituals. They help ground me while making me realise my worth. Not just in a physical sense, but also mentally with moments of gratitude and appreciation. Some of my childhood idols are … David Bowie, Marc Bolan and Mulan. Introvert or extravert? I’m definitely an ambivert – so a mix of both introvert and extrovert. A memory that defined me is … Definitely realising my adoration and love for nature in all forms. My ideal world is … One full of equality, compassion, kindness and connection back to Mother Earth. I end everyday by … Saying and acknowledging my gratitude for the many beautiful things I have in my life. For beautiful Mother Earth and for my body, mind, soul and my guides watching over me and protecting me everyday.

Tell us about how you were discovered and when you started modelling … I was just skating through Kings Cross with some friends, and I was approached by a local photographer who sent the images he took of me onto some agencies where I was lucky enough to be signed by Kult.

Someone I look up to is … Probably my mum. She’s been through the most and still finds love and time for the people in her life. When I am not modelling you can find me … With my friends or going for a walk with some music. My ultimate dream is to … Own a house on the beach somewhere pretty recluse where I can get a dog and just do my thing. Maybe get into writing a bit more. I feel most glamorous when … When my girl calls me pretty.

This week I’m obsessed with hypercubes.  My star sign is … Leo. It suits me because … I’m very passionate and love uplifting people close to me. My secret talent is … Scooping the most perfect scoop of gelato.

"Someone I look up to is Jacinda Ardern because it’s very refreshing and inspiring to see powerful yet compassionate women in politics moving with consideration and kindness. Political spheres are dominated by toxic masculinity, and her success shows the need to scrap outdated attitudes."

 

Tell us about how you were discovered and when you started modelling … I was scouted a few times whilst travelling Europe but couldn’t take up the opportunity because I was living in Australia. Then I was scouted on Instagram by my mother agent. Something I truly believe in is … Paying the rent. As people living on stolen land, this is a priority; sovereignty was never ceded. It’s time that we move beyond listening and learning and put in financial and practical effort to dismantle systems that have oppressed First Nations’ people for centuries. Someone I look up to is … Jacinda Ardern because it’s very refreshing and inspiring to see powerful yet compassionate women in politics moving with consideration and kindness. Political spheres are dominated by toxic masculinity, and her success shows the need to scrap outdated attitudes.

When I am not modelling you can find me ... Mostly at university because I’m a full-time student. When I’m not there, I’m at the movies, watching live music or dancing in the club.  My ultimate dream is to … Create a life where I can jump between my passions, hobbies and interests. I’d love to have the security and flexibility to not financially worry about how I spend my time. I feel most glamorous when … I am surrounded by people who love, support and cherish our connection. My best kept secret is … Johnson’s baby oil is the best moisturiser after a shower. My ultimate moment of indulgence is … Digging into a hot bowl of pho or ramen.

A tradition I hold onto is … Wearing a “Nazar” evil eye bracelet, basically to protect me from bad vibes. Also, catching the ferry whenever I can.  My childhood idol is … Neil DeGrasse Tyson. Watching Cosmos in my early teenage years is really what inspired me and made me fall in love with science and the beautiful patterns in the universe. Introvert or extrovert? An introvert that loves befriending extroverts. I like the type of socialising where I can silently sit and listen, and my extroverted friends can do the talking. A memory that defined me was … Moving back to Australia from Turkey when I was 16. Being exposed to two very different realities and finding my place in each widened my window to the world and allowed my confidence to grow. My ideal world looks like … A post-capitalist fairy dreamland where humanity and aliens have solved resource problems. Everyone can pursue their extra-niche passions like making cat figurines out of space crystals or studying alien civilisations’ history. I end every day by … Mostly watching TikToks.
