Sydney-based musician Melissah Marie, AKA Moody Beach, is a woman we want to know – temper or otherwise. The Redfern local’s new single, Vanilla, is “essentially about the time an ex-boyfriend of my mine told me he was perhaps more suited to someone more ‘vanilla’ than me,” she tells. “Each to their own.” It’s a bittersweet fusion of psych, grunge and 90s-tinged pop that has us reminiscing about basement parties, mornings watching Rage and cloudy days on the ocean’s edge.
